  • Romantic Anniversary Getaway

"This property was accurately described and very clean. Our hostess and host were very helpful in giving advice and insight. Not only is this property lovely, but our hostess did extra sweet touches (fresh flower arrangements & dinner table set and ready). So glad we splurged and stayed overnight on this side of the island. Gave us so much more time to explore and rest. Stay at least one night. Travel tip, we looped from the south and then traveled the Hana Hwy back. Loved having the roads to ourselves. Moalo!"

  • Absolute Perfection! Stayed 8 Days...Did Not Want To Leave!

"There are so many special things to say about The Star Lookout Cottage. Walking passed it for the past 5 years on visits to Upcountry, we ogled it and could finally get a reservation this year! It is even better than my wildest dreams and I know it will be always in my heart. Already have our reservations for next March! Otherwise...not sure I could leave! Okay...the features! The cottage sits at around 3000' on the slopes of Haleakala. Expect weather! Beautiful breezes...sun...mist..clouds...down poring rain. That can all be in one day...or over several. The main room is very comfortable for looking out, reading, the large screen tv is here, fast wifi, the fully equipped kitchen, a full bath and the best raised sleeping nook enclosed by light curtains to use or not. The large decks are filled with chairs, the best 2 person hammock, a table. Incredible sunsets from here as well as delightful bird watching! We never used the inside wood stove, the outside fire pit or the outside hot tub! Amazed by the super cleanliness of everything! Silverware, best knives ever, luxurious linens! There is also a separate bedroom and incredible full bath that you access from the front porch. It has a full closet, plenty of unpacking space, a very comfy queen bed, night tables, and a most fabulous bathroom! Sandstone counter top...incredible shower, over counter sink! Tasteful and perfectly remodeled! We switched back and forth for sleeping! The stars from the 'star bed' in the living area are simply breathtaking...as was the light of the full moon, eventually. Planets! The Milky Way! It was great for us to have the option of the other room which was darker! I seriously had to force myself to sleep from the excitement of the night sky! Located on incredible Thompson Road, where very, very people have homes...Oprah's ranch estate is one of your nearest neighbors and it's .8 of a mile away. Great areas of Maui are easy to get to. We spend a few days in Wailea, here and then time in Hana. Clearly, we love peace and quiet. No bar scene, no crowds, no pools with slides here! Just the awesomeness of hiking trails, biking, birds, flowers, Mana Market, Yee's marvelous mangoes(okay, the stand is 50 minutes away in Kihei and worth the drive) and we love The General Store in Halimaile for lunch. We walk to very popular Grandma's Cafe for breakfasts from here. Longest review I have ever written! My only regret is having not stayed here before!"

  • Beautiful cottage to relax and refresh. Perfect location, easily accessible. Ten minutes from Paia

"I'll begin by saying that we strategically chose two places on Maui to stay in order to have two different experiences. First- this beautiful, cozy, peaceful cottage right off the Road the Hana, near Haiku was a delight to find. We stayed 5 nights total before moving on. We followed the instructions perfectly from the owner's on how to find and access the cottage from the airport. All went seamlessly, which was good because it was a late arrival for our family after a full day of flying. We are a family of five, traveling with 2 teens and a ten yr. old. The first morning after arrival we read a note on the refrigerator left by owners giving recommendations to local groceries and stops. It was perfect, and we found the grocery store easily. Kitchen was well stocked with all that we would need at home. Also- a few refrigerator and cupboard staples were already present (sugar, spices, oil, butter, etc.) which was an incredible help. There was plenty of sleeping space for all of us. Super comfy beds. One bathroom meant that we had to rotate our showers, but that's fine by us. Towels galore, plenty of linens. Only had time to use the hot tub one time, but well-maintained and very clean area. Property had coconut and banana trees, and I am sure many others that I wouldn't know that names of. The owner even prepared two coconuts with straws for us to have a taste of coconut milk. Surprised and delighted... My personal favorite part of the cottage was having the windows open to allow the cross winds to blow through all night. At first, we were concerned about no A/C, but then as the Haiku spirit set in, we eased in to enjoying the natural setting. The Ualani Farm cottage was as described on the site. It was clean, well-maintained and cared for. We were so disappointed to have to leave our little cottage in Haiku to move to another side of the island. It provided us an experience that we will never forget on the country, more rain forest side of Maui. Until next time..."

  • What a place, what a place!

"We have been to Maui several times and will never stay anywhere else again! This condo is 100 steps from the ocean and I'm not talking about from the sand! That is only about 75 steps across a beautiful manicured lawn. Each morning, we walked down the beach about 80 yards and sipped our coffee watching the turtles play in the surf. Unbelievable! In the afternoons, we sat on the deck and watched kite and wind surfers sail from our beach. That's right, we didn't even have to walk those few steps to the beach to see this everyday. The instant you walk into the condo, you see the beautiful color of that blue water and you feel the stress from everyday life float away. In the mood for a volcano instead? Look out the window from the dining room and view Haleakala. This place has it all. Comfortable beds, beautiful kitchen, big living room areas, showers that massage your feet while you're in them, and a deck with a spectacular view. Hungry? Drive 4 short miles to Paia for the best cajun/blackened mahi you will ever have. We ate it everyday while there and I don't even like fish! This condo is on the quieter side of the island and it gets the trade winds so you don't suffer from the heat and humidity like on the other side. Will I go back? Every chance I get! I recommend you go, but not in September because that is when I'll be there! Have fun and don't miss out!"
