"This place is so comfy and clean and with a great price! It's more like your own personal home with a deck and hot tub I could easily live there. It's quite and maintained very well. It's only a short drive to Hana town but you still have the feeling of being away from it all which is what Hana is all about. It's a no brainer I've stayed in Hana plenty and this spot is golden."

  • Wonderfully peaceful!

"It was my first trip to Hawai'i, and I wanted a nice, quiet place at which to recharge, and from which to explore other parts of Maui. I found this location through the VRBO website and was very pleased with my selection. It was an easy 25 minutes drive from Kahalui, and only 15 minutes from the small town of Paia and nice north-side beaches. The owner was very helpful on my first day in orienting me by phone, letting me know of a local grocery store in Paia and some surrounding attractions. The beaches were not busy, the water clear, with big waves (but not too big for swimming!), and some beaches are dedicated to surfing only. This location was close to the famous Mama's Fish House (I recommend booking restaurants via the Open Table app, or calling ahead, as there is always a waitlist otherwise), and an easy drive to other areas of the island. Kaanapali is only about 1 to 1.5 hours' drive from here. Very do-able on any day where it's raining in Haiku but not on the other side of the island. The property was well-kept, everything worked (plumbing, hair dryer, fridge, lights, etc), and it had the beginnings of a self-sustaining vegetable garden, and eco-friendly atmosphere. Each unit here (I think there were three guest suites, and one unit for the property manager) had its own parking space. The one-bedroom I rented was pleasantly decorated with colorful waves and fish. It fit nicely with the feel and energy of the island. And the little yurt was a good space in which to do yoga when I sorely needed some quiet, stretching time, surrounded by lots of light and a pleasant breeze. I didn't use the pool since I went to the beach each day, but it was nice to have nearby. I'd consider staying here again."

  • Pookela house review.

"Mark the owner was very nice. He took care of an issue we had with the DVD player. Explained a lot about the town of Makawoa and surrounding area. The house was very nice-great views of the valley. The weather was nice, cooler than down by the ocean-great breezes. The only down side is there are no shades on the west side so the sun shines into the house in the afternoon. We would stay again. Thanks Mark"
