  • Heavenly Hana

"I lived here 45 years ago, some of it in a house just across the road from here (now gone). It has been wonderful to again have my morning coffee on the lanai with the golden sunlight on the green vegetation and Mauna Kea rising through the clouds across the channel! Driving the Hana roads has even been fun again, a reminder in this self-centered age to have respect for the rights of others. SO many people have been SO nice to us during our stay here! Koali Ranch Cottage has been just perfect for us! Didn't even turn the stove on! Ate in town, brought a plate of BBQ home from Braddah's last night and have greatly enjoyed fresh papayas, pineapple and avocados from self-service fruit stands along the road to Kipahulu. We head back to Kihei today, going through Kaupo and Nu'u, but we've taken lots of pictures and we leave with wonderful memories of our ninth anniversary honeymoon stay at Koali Ranch Cottage!"

  • Small but well equipped.

"Charming unit that was very clean and well maintained. Noisy in the bedroom from highway noise but we put our white noise on and were fine. Twin beds were put in the living room that was tastefully done."

  • Love the view !

"This home is located on the Jungle side of the island. We are used to going to Lahaina where all the beach and tourist areas are located. This trip I decided to book the VRBO and do the other side of the island which is less crowded. This is on the Hana Hwy side with lots of hiking trails and waterfalls. What a view this home has. The sunset is just breathtaking. The owner Bev met us as we arrived and went over the home and all of its features. She was so sweet. She left us lots of treats like nuts, fruit, granola bars, etc. She explains how things work and then told us where the laundry room was located in the driveway of the main home where she lives. This home is really a guest house just below the main home, but is very private. Bev the owner who lives in the main home supplies more items than most vacation rentals. Everything from drinks, treats, oatmeal, cereal, milk, and more in another refrigerator. Plastic wrap, trash bags, soaps, shampoo, and conditioner. She also supplied sunblock and mosquito repellent although we had very little problem with mosquitoes on this trip. You name it, she has it for use. The home features one large bathroom with large tub/shower and a huge vanity. There are plenty of towels. The second bath is a half bath with toilet and small vanity right off the bedroom. The beds are kingsize wicker style and super comfortable. Both bedrooms have windows air conditioners and ceiling fans and the living area has 2 ceilings fans. The only downside is no dishwasher in the home and I'm really used to having one. Bev the owner does offer paper plates and supplies that make it easier for guest not wanting to wash dishes. There is also an outside shower to spray off the sand or mud when you come back from the beach. That is a huge bonus instead of bringing it all inside the home. They supply a nice book of hiking and trails and really do try to go over anything you need. We enjoyed our stay and David and Bev are great hosts. The home is very comfortable and it has a hottub which we put to good use."

  • A unique and very personal Maui experience

"We spent our last two nights on Maui at Bamboo Heaven, and we could not have picked a better spot. Situated in an idyllic garden, Bamboo heaven is not only a beautiful place to relax, but also an ideal starting point to explore Maui’s Northern coast and the Road to Hana. The homely bamboo house was equipped with everything we could have asked for - from a well-stocked fridge to fresh homegrown fruits and lots of breakfast ingredients. What makes this place real special is its owner Janice - who is such a gracious, helpful and kind person and the perfect host. She took her time to point out many points of interest and places to explore and provided us with a lot of helpful tips. If you wish, Janice introduces you to the Hula and lets you sample coconut and sugar cane, both grown on her property. We had a lot of fun doing so and really enjoyed ourselves. Janice even made leis (the Hawaiian floral wreaths) for us upon our departure - a very kind gesture and a beautiful souvenir. To cut a long story short: The stay at Bamboo Heaven made our last days on the island something very special, and we can’t thank Janice enough for her hospitality. We would definitely recommend this B&B - you won’t be disappointed if you are looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay and a very unique, personal Maui experience."
