  • Even with some problems - still great

"My wife and I arrived and the guy that was supposed to meet us was not there. That was not cool. He finally arrived. He gave a lame excuse for being late even though I was texting him when we would be there he still managed to make us wait a bit which is no fun once you've been traveling 15 hours to get there. But we got the keys and moved on. Funny thing was that on check out day he was Johnny on the spot to make sure we were checking out on time! The unit was very nice. However, the AC was not working upon arrival, but Jill was great in getting it fixed right away. Then the dryer wouldn't work either - but again got it fixed right away So even though there were some problems Jill was quick to fix. My wife and I love Hanua Kai. Its perfect for us in every way. Dukes is awesome. HK is really a first class place. Second time staying at HK. And for this unit I would have easily gave stars if not for the guy with the keys that was supposed to meet us and some of the issues dealing with getting things fixed. Its a great unit and everything you would expect from HK. So I only did four stars - but maybe it was just my luck that this stuff broke down on my visit."

  • This property is awesome! Perfect Family Location!

"This was our first visit to the Honua Kai and we will definitely be back! The unit was immaculate and no detail was overlooked, every amenity was considered. We were able to move right in and enjoy all the comforts of home while on vacation. We were concerned about the construction of the new hotel next door but with lanai doors shut we didn't hear any noise. We hadn't heard anything about the beach and thought we would have to walk a bit down to Airport Beach but that wasn't the case, the snorkeling just to the left of the hotel was truly amazing! The Kahekili Marine Reserve has done a tremendous job and the coral reef and marine life is abundant and thriving. Our family thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling outside the hotel. The newly completed beach walk was an added bonus. The great news was that the pool wasn't the main attraction for our kids. They enjoyed the waterslide but the pool is more suited for younger kids (under 5 and non-swimmers) and adults to relax and lounge. Dukes on the property was an added bonus! We recommend this unit to everyone, especially those traveling with children (any age) or a parent. We had a wonderful time and hope to stay in the unit again soon!"

  • Excellent property and location

"Honua Kai is a true condo-hotel where you have the convenience and space of a large condo unit for your family with all the amenities that a hotel provides. This property is a beautiful, sprawling and well maintained resort. This unit was beautifully furnished and each bedroom has a full ensuite bathroom, so therefore can be rented by a family or 2 couples since neither will get the "smaller" bedroom as they are completely alike. The unit is very generous in size with an extremely large living/dining kitchen area. The kitchen comes equipped with all the basics to start your stay (dish soap, paper towels, laundry detergent, coffee, sponge, all cutlery, utensils and cookware). Beach towels are provided as well and we asked the concierge to deliver beach chairs to us which they did promptly. The bedrooms are large and the double sink bathrooms are equipped with soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer and blow dryer. The large balcony has a dining table to enjoy your breakfast while looking out towards the ocean and over the pool area. The resort itself has a great coffee shop in lobby that also sells basic groceries, pharmacy items, and prepared food (sandwiches, baked goods etc). On-site restaurant (Duke's) is on the beach with a great view and good food. Pool area is well maintained with comfortable chairs and umbrellas along with service from Dukes pool bar. The best feature would be the excellent concierge service whereby all your reservations and questions are expertly dealt with (restaurants, surf lessons, helicopter rides, zip lines, questions about where to hike, beach, drive etc). I would highly recommend this property and unit to anyone considering a stay in Maui."

  • Great accommodations for our family of 6

"Plenty of room for our family, 2 adults and 4 kids. 9th floor, corner room, great view of mountains. Easy access to elevator down the hall to get to lobby, pool and underground parking. The parking was a nice perk. Both bedrooms are large with lots of closet space and their own bathrooms. Beach closet has all the supplies you could think of for the pool/beach. Towels, coolers, chairs, sand toys, boogie boards etc. Huge lanai which completely opens up. Cable TV in every room. Very close to Lahaina for restaurants and shopping. Had a great stay and would definitely return."
