  • Just as expected.........No, even better!!!

"We booked this unit based on the location and great reviews, but when we arrived it was even better than our expectations. The unit is on the corner of the third floor, so it has a great view of the ocean and a view of the pool area. The third floor is a great height for seeing people, yet high enough not to be bothered by them. We had two couples staying in the unit, and there was so much room we could have easily had a third couple. I could go on and on, but basically you can't go wrong here. We have stayed at five other complexes in Maui and this is our favorite to date. It's right at the end of the boardwalk so there isn't too much foot traffic like the areas further south, yet it's close enough for a nice walk to Duke's, Black Rock, or Whaler's Village. If you are a beach goer or snorkeler, the beach directly in front of the unit isn't usable for sunning or snorkeling, but just south of the unit the beach opens up to an uncrowded beautiful location. You walk to the south end of the complex down to the beach and park your chairs, towels, and ice chest (which all come with the unit). It's close enough to walk back to your unit if you need anything. The grass area in front of the complex is also great for sunning, and the pool was never crowded, sparkling clean, and an option for those who don't like going into the ocean, but want to be in Hawaii."

  • Excellent property and location

"Honua Kai is a true condo-hotel where you have the convenience and space of a large condo unit for your family with all the amenities that a hotel provides. This property is a beautiful, sprawling and well maintained resort. This unit was beautifully furnished and each bedroom has a full ensuite bathroom, so therefore can be rented by a family or 2 couples since neither will get the "smaller" bedroom as they are completely alike. The unit is very generous in size with an extremely large living/dining kitchen area. The kitchen comes equipped with all the basics to start your stay (dish soap, paper towels, laundry detergent, coffee, sponge, all cutlery, utensils and cookware). Beach towels are provided as well and we asked the concierge to deliver beach chairs to us which they did promptly. The bedrooms are large and the double sink bathrooms are equipped with soap, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer and blow dryer. The large balcony has a dining table to enjoy your breakfast while looking out towards the ocean and over the pool area. The resort itself has a great coffee shop in lobby that also sells basic groceries, pharmacy items, and prepared food (sandwiches, baked goods etc). On-site restaurant (Duke's) is on the beach with a great view and good food. Pool area is well maintained with comfortable chairs and umbrellas along with service from Dukes pool bar. The best feature would be the excellent concierge service whereby all your reservations and questions are expertly dealt with (restaurants, surf lessons, helicopter rides, zip lines, questions about where to hike, beach, drive etc). I would highly recommend this property and unit to anyone considering a stay in Maui."

  • Great stay

"Beautiful location. Great view. We are a family of 4. Tons of space for us. Loved the big doors in living room that opened to allow in ocean breeze. Pools were fun but a bit crowded. Hard to get chairs, but we didn't care too much as we are beach people. Great location. Less busy than Lahaina, close to grocery, etc. Were met at 11pm and welcomed. Pretty much a perfect expierence."
