Recent Honua Kai reviews

  • This property is awesome! Perfect Family Location!

"This was our first visit to the Honua Kai and we will definitely be back! The unit was immaculate and no detail was overlooked, every amenity was considered. We were able to move right in and enjoy all the comforts of home while on vacation. We were concerned about the construction of the new hotel next door but with lanai doors shut we didn't hear any noise. We hadn't heard anything about the beach and thought we would have to walk a bit down to Airport Beach but that wasn't the case, the snorkeling just to the left of the hotel was truly amazing! The Kahekili Marine Reserve has done a tremendous job and the coral reef and marine life is abundant and thriving. Our family thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling outside the hotel. The newly completed beach walk was an added bonus. The great news was that the pool wasn't the main attraction for our kids. They enjoyed the waterslide but the pool is more suited for younger kids (under 5 and non-swimmers) and adults to relax and lounge. Dukes on the property was an added bonus! We recommend this unit to everyone, especially those traveling with children (any age) or a parent. We had a wonderful time and hope to stay in the unit again soon!"

  • Just as expected.........No, even better!!!

"We booked this unit based on the location and great reviews, but when we arrived it was even better than our expectations. The unit is on the corner of the third floor, so it has a great view of the ocean and a view of the pool area. The third floor is a great height for seeing people, yet high enough not to be bothered by them. We had two couples staying in the unit, and there was so much room we could have easily had a third couple. I could go on and on, but basically you can't go wrong here. We have stayed at five other complexes in Maui and this is our favorite to date. It's right at the end of the boardwalk so there isn't too much foot traffic like the areas further south, yet it's close enough for a nice walk to Duke's, Black Rock, or Whaler's Village. If you are a beach goer or snorkeler, the beach directly in front of the unit isn't usable for sunning or snorkeling, but just south of the unit the beach opens up to an uncrowded beautiful location. You walk to the south end of the complex down to the beach and park your chairs, towels, and ice chest (which all come with the unit). It's close enough to walk back to your unit if you need anything. The grass area in front of the complex is also great for sunning, and the pool was never crowded, sparkling clean, and an option for those who don't like going into the ocean, but want to be in Hawaii."

  • Wonderful trip with the kids and grandkids

"We stayed in this condo with our children, their spouses and two grandkids (6 adults and 2 little ones) for two weeks in August 2016. The place is absolutely amazing! It has two master suites and a third bedroom with a bathroom directly across the hall. Both master suites had plenty of room for a crib and blow-up bed and all three bedrooms had large TV's in each room allowing each family to have their own "space". Being on the first floor is wonderful (especially with little kids) as there is a little grassy area and easy access to the beach without having to go up and down an elevator. Their is also a nice outdoor table for dining and/or sitting around to enjoy the sunset. The Condo had plenty of beach equipment (chairs, boogie boards, snorkle gear, sand castle toys, etc). The construction next door did not bother us at all and the condo will gain a absolutely fantastic ocean view once the construction fence goes down. The complex has several large pools, a water slide (which was used a lot by the kids & grandkids) and is very family oriented. Duke's restaurant on property is also very nice for an easy breakfast, lunch or dinner. We also enjoyed cooking at home many evenings and used the BBQ area numerous times. This was our second stay at this condo and I highly recommend it to families. And also a shout out to the owners (and Sherry) as they are very, very helpful in making sure your stay is delightful."
