  • Awesome Maui Vacation

"We just returned from an awesome week in Maui. I can't say enough good things about the Maui Kai property. The view from the lanai is beyond description. We watched Humpback Whales and Sea Turtles everyday just sitting at the table on the lanai. The sunsets were awesome. All units on the property are OCEAN FRONT. We kept the lanai door open all of the time, sometimes the surf was so loud that you could not hear the TV, and it took a couple of nights to get used to the surf when going to sleep. It is a small property (which is a great thing). secluded away from traffic and feels very private with plenty of FREE parking. There is a nice grocery store a block away. While kids are welcome here, my advise is if you have kids and are looking for all the amenities, look elsewhere. There is not a beach on the property, but some beach on both sides. This is a great property for adults looking for peace and quiet away from all the kid friendly resorts. The pool and grill area are fantastic. We grilled out 3 nights on their large CLEAN grills. Awesome! Nice clean pool and hot tub, it's not on the ocean as advertised, but was very peaceful and quiet. The one downside to Maui Kai was that the front desk people were very rude. It was as if since we booked through a private owner that were bothered when we registered with them. We had one other interaction with them (the same person) and got the same attitude. As for the 504 unit itself, it was very nice. It was stocked with all of the items you could want for your stay. It was very clean and comfortable. The bed was a very nice king bed. It was a little cozy and tight, especially the bathroom and kitchen, but it was perfect for the two of us. If you had four people it would be a little cramped. The WIFI is very weak. I got much faster response using the data on my phone. One issue with the unit is that they have so much stuff (water sports equipment, linens, cleaning supplies, vacuum cleaner, laundry basket etc.) in the closets that there was only enough room to hang some clothes in part of the bedroom closet and very little room to store your luggage out of the way. Also, we are very early risers and 3 mornings we did not have any hot water until after 6am. I don't know if they are on a timer or what but it was only a minor issue. In closing, I would certainly stay here again and would highly recommend it. It made our delayed honeymoon very special."

  • Great Time!

"I was reluctant to go through VRBO, but it was stress free and all was as promised. Steve was great to work with, helped me along the way and answered all questions very quickly. We got a deluxe ocean view room. It was beautiful. Look out the balcony and see water for days, even got a rainbow one morning! The room had a small kitchenette with dining room and living room, large bedroom and huge bathroom with tub and shower. Room was in great condition, everything was very nice and clean. The pool was nice, plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The beach area is small, but we walked all the way down to where the Royal Lahaina resort is (we had to go out of the parking lot and down to the right to do this, but we wanted to check the beach out). The beach is very eroded all the way down, not just at Kaanapali Beach Club and only gets a little better starting at the Royal Lahaina resort. There was still plenty of beach at KBC and we rented a beach cabana for $40 and hung out all day one day. We found staff pleasant and helpful. The pizza restaurant was very good, the other sit down restaurant was just ok. We ate offsite most days. We really loved it here. If we were to stay in Lahaina again, we would definitely return."

"I have had a timeshare here since 2001 and was just recently there and wondered when do they plan on getting rid of the hideous looking popcorn ceilings and furniture that looks like it's from the days of Sanford and Son?"

"First step inside we knew it was going to be a great vacation. The master bedroom/bath are updated and very comfortable. Bath & beach towels were on the shelves along with pool accessories, coolers and snorkeling gear. THANK YOU!!! The kitchen is updated with so many extras and the BBQ area is located close by. We were pleasantly surprised to have indoor & outdoor dining area. Gorgeous VIEWS from every window with a few steps to the beach! We will definitely be back..."
