  • Comfortable updated unit with a beautiful ocean view

"My wife and I stayed for a week in unit #762 and it was a great place to stay. The unit is updated and clean. The Murphy bed was very comfortable and it was nice to be able to fold it up out of the way every morning. I actually slept better there than I do at home. The mirrored wall in the living room allows an awesome view of Black Rock and the ocean all the way from the kitchen. The location is great and the property is well-maintained. We barbecued three nights there by the pool and met other guests. The property was not overcrowded and it was a peaceful setting. Unit #762 was a perfect location within the building because we were able to enjoy a beautiful sunset view without getting too much sun on the lanai. We look forward to returning and I recommend this unit to others who appreciate a comfortable updated condo with a beautiful ocean view."

  • Great Condo and location

"Stayed at unit 470 for 10 days starting April 11. Found everything to be exactly as advertised. Our first time at the Whaler, and for sure it won't be our last!!! (stayed at Kaanapali Shores 4 times before). Love the 2 bathroom bit, one for me, one for wife!! Also the washer dryer in the condo is a nice handy touch. We will definately look to rent this unit the next time we visit. The Whaler itself is a great place, all very clean and everyone very helpful. Love the underground parking. It is as centrally located as one could ever want."

  • Desirable Location & Amenities!

"From the time we booked with Julie (9 months before we travelled) to our actual stay, we had a fabulous experience! Julie was always prompt with answering questions. She advised us of some reno work done to the sea wall during our stay and gave us a a sizeable rebate on our stay - some owners were not providing this so we r grateful Julie did this for us. The condo itself was great - everything u could need for a week! The lanai door and screen was very hard to open and when we advised Julie it was repaired within a few days - they even installed a new screen door - kudos to the maintenance staff. Loved how close we were to ABC store and the Times Grocery - just walk across the street. Great pool, barbecues and putting range on site. Check out craft beers at the Maui Brewing Co. just down the street. Central to everything! We booked some excursions through Expedia who provided a 1 hour welcome talk at Papakea Resort which were well priced. We bought groceries at Costco on our way to the condo and cooked most bites at the condo (fresh Mahi Mahi) and only ate out twice at the Old Lahaina Luau ( book it early ) and our last nite at Fleetwoods in Lahaina (Mick Fleetwoods Restaurant) on their Rooftop Bar overlooking the ocean - Devine! Loved Papakea K303! The pics on vrbo r exactly how the condo looks including the view!! Mahalo Julie! We did not want to leave! Kim, Brian, Carole and Paul - Ontario Canada"

  • Fun!

"The good: Great location, great size, tons of beach toys, nice outdoor patio, great TV for those late night movies with the kids, early check in, not far from beach, close to shopping and restaurants, small market within walking distance, great new kitchen with everything you need, large bathrooms, and the owners were great to communicate with. Pools are close - one is closed for construction but other is just out the front door and great for the kids. The not so good: Toilet in smaller bathroom would sometimes take a few flushes to flush, the dryer stopped working on the last day, plan on buying your own toilet paper and paper towels if you have a large family as they don't supply extra. I wish you would consider changing this and just go to Kmart or Costco and have a supply for your guest. The ugly: Bring the febreze or candles because it is very musty smelling. I am not sure if it was the carpet or the curtains or what but the smell almost knocks you over when you enter the unit. To me I would furnish paper towels and toilet paper for my guest. You can go to Kmart or Costco and buy and big package and keep"
