"A family from Italy, we found this Maui cottage better than any 6 star hotel. Spacious, in a secluded golf court club but with a beautiful ocean view. It is an old cottage so it is considered even more precious to people. Absolutely clean, well managed it is so full of house and beach equipment that we could not even figure out many of the apparels there! Located in walking distance from the best beach of all the west coast and close to the best hotels,we totally fell in love with this place. We could not think of single thing to criticize! I wish I could come every year.As they say., a small paradise in Paradise island. Finally it is completely secure and quiet."

  • Excellent facility, clean, well equipped modern condo, great location

"My husband and I just returned from a week in Maui, we had a wonderful trip staying at Honua Kai. The condo was everything we hoped for. It was very clean, well appointed, modern, quiet, and had all the extras that made our trip so easy and fun. The resort itself was pretty busy, lots of toddlers, young couples with children. As we were older travelers we were a little wary but it turned out to be fine. We spent most of our time on the beach or the grassy area outside the pool area. The pools are on the small side but there are a number of them and very popular with the toddlers. The condo came equipped with beach chairs, beach towels, a portable cooler and toys if needed. There was a food market close by, we cooked in several nights. The resort location was good, we hit a different beach every day and then went back to the resort for afternoon cocktails. The resort restaurant and bar was very nice, food is good. The beach was nice, not great for snorkeling, but swimming was fine. Staff was friendly and the owner / property manager was very easy to work with. I would definitely stay here again. This was my second Maui trip and we really enjoyed the Honua Kai condo."

  • Perfect location and the most responsive owner!

"This condo has the perfect location as it is located just walking distance (through beautiful golf course walkways) from the best hotels in Lahaina (e.g. Sheraton and Royal Lahaina). We are a family of 6 (including a 5 year old) and walked to the beach, the Black Rock snorkeling, the Eldorado Cabanas, and the Royal Lahaina Luau. If you want to venture a bit farther (e.g. Whaler's Village), you can take the trolley right from Eldorado. In essence, you stay in the best hotel area and enjoy the same beaches, but at a fraction of what it would cost you. In relation to the apartment, it was very spacious and had everything we needed and more. It took us a day to figure out how the AC worked, but once we did, it was nice and cool inside the apartment. Also, Anka (the manager) is super attentive and responsive to the guests' needs. She was just a phone call away and was there to help all the way through the vacation and at any hour of the day. I also wanted to mention that, although one of the pools is under renovation, there are two other beautiful pools close by and available for use. This was our first time in Maui and our first time booking a stay through VRBO. We are very pleased with our selection and if we return to Maui, we would definitely stay at this place again. Thank you Anka!"

  • Relaxing Family Vacation

"My family of 6 (2 adults and 4 teenagers) has just returned from a 10 night stay in Jim's condo. To say we had a wonderful vacation is an understatement. The condo is just as advertised, with extras that sometimes are not included, but are very much appreciated. Like everyone else has said, the closet stocked with boogie boards, lawn chairs, a cooler and tennis rackets was great, but it is the little things like laundry and dishwasher detergent, tin foil, salt and pepper, extra towels that are really appreciated!! We have stayed in other rentals that have none of those items and they nickel and dime you to death! Having some of these items was such a pleasant surprise. Thank you Jim and your management company for having them. We did not contact the management company during our stay as it was never needed. The location of Ka'anapali Shores is great. There is lots to do in the area, with Lahaina a short drive up the highway. We always felt safe while on the entire island. There is a Times grocery store right across the street or a Safeway in Lahaina. The new pool and grounds are stunning. Just beautiful! Jim's condo overlooks the new pool area so you can watch your kids from your lanai. There is a barbeque area (which is poorly located on the property) with picnic tables near the tennis courts so the kids are not bored when you are down grilling your dinner. There is plenty of parking - the resort charges you $9 per night when you arrive. You receive towel cards for pool towels, and Jim has extras in the condo as well so do not bother packing more. The beds are comfortable, although the mattress on the sofa bed needs replacing. There is plenty of room for 6 guests without tripping over each other and the fact that there are 2 newly renovated bathrooms is a bonus. The lanai is a nice size with a private smaller one off of the master bedroom. Overall, this condo is exactly what we were wanting and even better than we were expecting. Jim has been wonderful to deal with and I would not hesitate for one minute to recommend his place to my friends and family. We are hoping we will be back again in the future, as it has become a favorite."
