  • Rest, Relaxation, Privacy, PEACEFUL

"We have had a long and hard year, which includes the death of our father. Before he died, we had a bucket list for what we would do when he got better. A family vacation in Maui was #1 on the list. After the dust settled, we decided to book the vacation in his memory, and I was appointed to locate the house. Thankfully, we found this one, and it was all that we hoped for and more. It has a ton of space, so we all had room to do our own thing. We had 3 teenagers and 4 adults. It's got loads of outdoor privacy, so we enjoyed the deck and pool to our heart's content. All of us with jobs work in customer service, so having peace, quiet and privacy was huge for us. We loved driving down the hill to hang at Kaanapali in the morning for snorkeling, and then half the group would come home to chill by the pool, while the remainder rode afternoon waves or explored other beaches. There are loads of beach accessories and towels, which made life easy. We went to Black Rock often for sunset, and it was just spectacular. We went to the Maui fish market many times and enjoyed family meals, grilling, laughing and lounging on comfy couches while the kids played pool. Bonus- the house had a great deal of staples, so we did not have to buy oil, sugar, etc. Two minor suggestions- get Roku for the TVs, so people can stream Netflix. Consider upgrading the queen beds- 2 were pretty firm and could benefit from a topper. Otherwise we would totally come back here, loved and appreciated all the customer support we got thru the process and feel well rested and relaxed after this much needed vacation !!!"

  • Good stay

"This property was clean and well maintained. I felt a little disappointed upon arrival because I thought I was staying in a little cottage. I'm sure it was my fault and I didn't read good enough. It is a very dated resort but the room was very updated and clean! The place was not as immaculate as the pictures but it was still pretty nice! Snorkel gear and a boogy board were provided which was great! If your a person who likes to have a very cool room this unit is not for you. We like to sleep with the air atleast 70 degrees. On our arrival the AC was not turned on and it was extremely hot inside. I was upset because it should have been turned on prior to our arrival, it took a very long time to cool down. The air condition could not keep up with the room and when set on 70 it ran the whole 5 days we stayed. I told the front desk a few times but they never said anything so I assumed it was normal. It was very hot the whole time. If your a person who liked privacy it is a bit uncomfortable having a camera on the balcony because it feels like a violation of privacy. The view was amazing!! Not a beach front which is clearly stated in the description but the beach is just feet away from the Maui Kai. However it is a ocean front and is beautiful! Over all we had a very good stay, staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions! We would stay again if the air condition was a little cooler."

  • Paradise Found

"We were certainly pleased to be able to book this fabulous condo as a one bedroom. There is no comparison to the spaciousness and views available in this unit, when looking at other one bedrooms at Honua Kai. From early morning coffee vistas to evening sunset spectacles, the lanai panorama is unbeatable. Everything in the condo is in perfect working order, with a well stocked kitchen, bathroom and beach supply pantry. When renting as a one bedroom, you are gifted the roominess of a three bedroom at the price of a single. Thank you Steve for greeting us and making us feel welcome, and for being available. We certainly enjoyed our stay."

  • Honua Kai, unit 839

"Overall, this was an outstanding stay. Walt and his staff were very responsive and helpful. The condo complex has most of the ammenities of the surrounding hotels including a great restaurant (Dukes), gym, store, 4 pools, BBQ grills and an aquatic activities desk. The unit itself was as advertised and well maintained. This unit was perfect for our young daughter and mother-in-law. Beach equipment and a pack n' play were also free. I would recommend the Honua Kai to anyone. Absolutely a great value. Would stay again."
