"Rather than book a couple of hotel rooms for my wife and I and 5 other in-laws, we decided to rent a condo on the beach. The price actually worked out to be the same as two rooms at a resort in Lahaina. So, I found this place on VRBO and it looked spectacular. It was. Literally 20 steps from the beach! My wife and I (who paid for the rental) actually opted to sleep on the fold out couch in the living room so we could leave the doors open and hear the waves breaking all night. Best sleep ever!
We had a problem with the microwave not working when we first arrived, so I called the Help Line and they called back quickly and told me where the circuit breaker box was. Problem solved.
Everything we needed was provided. It was so nice having the ability to have our family hang out together in the condo and on the lanai, enjoying coffee and looking at the beach and the clouds covering Molokai.
And, of course, a stay isn't complete until you leave something behind. On our way to the airport we realized we'd left my wife's work laptop in a drawer at the condo. No time to turn back. I contacted the owner and he quickly had the property manager find the laptop and have it shipped to our house. I don't know about any of you, but I've left many things in hotel rooms that were "never found." Thanks Randy!
Lastly, there weren't all those requirements for leaving that some timeshares have. You know, "you must clean out the fridge, take the sheets off the bed, load the dishwasher, etc. etc. or you have to pay a $125 cleaning fee." We were considerate. Took out the trash, mostly cleaned out the fridge, etc. But it was nice not having onerous requirements to check out.
I can't say there's anything I would recommend for improvement. I would certainly stay there again. Highly recommended."
