"The location of this property is terrific. It's not in the middle of a resort - which we definitely did not want - and there are bars, restaurants, small groceries with surprising selections of items all within a short walk. Kahana is surrounded by nice beaches, which we found rarely crowded in any way (possibly time of year - we were there first week in October 2016). The snorkeling right off the beaches is unbelievable. We paid for a snorkeling tour and didn't see anywhere near the variety of fish, and not one turtle, that we saw at any beach within 5 miles in either direction of the unit. The unit itself is lovely, as everyone has noted. The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen well appointed, the views of Molokai and Lana'i awesome. The variety of amenities - both indoors and outdoors - are very thoughtful. And I can't possibly say enough about the sea turtles! It's so much fun to just sit on the lanai with a cocktail and watch them float towards the sea wall shopping for dinner! The only reason I wouldn't give this rental a 5 is the ventilation. When we opened the door to the unit upon arrival, we were blasted with stiflingly hot air, even though the a/c unit was set to 60. We spent the first 3 days trying to figure out the "system" of what to open, and when, to get an actual breeze moving. I even downloaded an ambient air app to make sure it wasn't all in my head! Getting air moving usually required leaving the front door open - not just the vents - with the back sliding doors wide open. After a few nosey peeks from neighbors we decided to stop leaving the front door open! When the temperature leveled out, the unit was almost completely perfect. The sliding glass doors and screens are a wee bit tricky, but the screens pop right back in place and the doors can be conquered. Overall we had a thoroughly lovely time, much based on this little jewel! Hope to be back in the future! Thanks, Jill!"
