  • Excellent Condo, Building, Grounds and People

"I was really impressed by a lot of things associated with this condo and building. In no particular order, some excellent characteristics are: the amazing view from the expansive patio window and balcony; an elevator; a very kind and friendly caretaker on site; immaculate grounds; soft sandy beach and sandy safe ocean (a bit of flat rock but easy to see and avoid stepping on); really nice pool and hot tub at perfect temperature; palm trees; turtles; decent snorkelling; great SUP and surf waves (maybe not all times of the year but it was great when we were there in December); safe secure condo area. The condo itself was well stocked, I can't say I ever felt anything was lacking. Even had a slow cooker and wow that sure helps to make quick and easy dinners! Modern furnishings, very comfortable couches for lounging. Stylishly decorated with beautiful artwork in a laid-back modern style, and lots of interesting books to read (and guidebooks of Maui). Easy to keep clean with tile throughout. I was worried about our family having to share 1 bathroom but having the sink/vanity/laundry separate with a door from the toilet/shower was the perfect scenario and it worked out well for us because of this unique configuration for the bathroom - a big plus! Someone can be showering and someone else can still brush their teeth etc... There are some basic coffee shops and place for food and a local market within decent walking distance, and some cute shops as well. The condo fronts onto the ocean and backs onto the parking lot and Lower Hono'opilani Road, at Winter break the road was busy and can be noisy in the back bedroom, but in all honesty I'm a light sleeper and I noticed the traffic noise but it didn't affect my sleep - very little traffic after 10pm. There was a very diverse crowd staying at the other condos in the building: families with young kids, families with teenagers, couples of all ages, and elderly. Everyone was extremely friendly, respectful and kind to eachother and just plain happy to be there. We've stayed at a lot of different condos in Maui and this is the first I would say honestly I'd stay here again, the blend of value, location, surfable waves, nearby amenities, beautiful beach and view, cleanliness and vibe/kindness - this is what has sold me on Hale Mahina. I highly recommend this building, in particular this condo and owners."

  • Nice Condo - Wonderful Location

"We enjoyed our stay at the Kuleana Resort on Maui. The location was absolutely wonderful. There is a seawall with black lava rock just in front of the condo with small beaches to the left and right with access just steps from the front door of the building. One beach was sandy with a large tree if you wanted shade and great for swimming; the second beach had no shade and had a few more rocks but better snorkeling. If you swam over or used the sea ladder to get in the area in front of the seawall there were lots of fish and some coral. This was also the area where we saw sea turtles up on the rocks trying to eat the seaweed. From the patio on the condo, you could look down into the water and see the turtles under the water. We appreciated the ease of getting to the condo and the terrific directions and info sent to us before our visit as well as the book of local info (loved Maui Brewing Company!) in the condo. We felt that the beach and the location were absolutely the stars for this vacation rental and we would rent it again, but it is due for a little TLC. On the positive side, the Tommy Bahama beach chairs were awesome and the boogie boards (?) were also fun just to lay on in the water, and the cooler was great but we didn't use it since we were so close to the condo. We picked up some noodles to float around on and left them for the next visitors so the beach supplies rate an "A." The kitchen is well stocked with things to cook with but it might be time for some new flatware and drinking glasses. The patio furniture was comfortable and clean. On the negative, the carpet in the bedroom definitely needs to be replaced and that in the front room is matted and probably will be ready to replace soon. The lock box in the bedroom closet was not working when we were there. Just a few other things we noticed (kitchen cabinets that could use a good wipe down around the handles, wobbly leg on the coffee table, lots of use showing on furniture in the bedroom and front room, a couple of rusty pieces of patio stuff in the flower box on the patio) show that the condo is well used and could use a little more in the way of maintenance and maybe updating. With that said, we found the kitchen and bathroom to be clean and looking good and the mattress is really comfy. We would have wished for a little more space but in Hawaii, who stays inside anyway??"

  • Triumphant return

"Came back to the same unit we had previously stayed in 2 years ago. First things first though the dealing with Valerie and the team was easy - did not even feel like we were booking from another country with response times etc. The unit itself is well positioned to walk to Kapalua Bay, Pineapple Grill (great happy hour there) and an easy drive in and out of the resort. The view from the balcony is spectacular and the unit itself with all the appliances etc are great. Its just like being at home is the best description. We were there with our parents and slept on the pull out couch so the unit comfortably fitted 5 people for 10 days with enough space for all. Big yes from me for heading back their again"

  • Happy Repeater!

"We have been to Kapalua every year for our anniversary and this was our 2nd time to stay at Patty and Rick's beautiful villa! From last year's wonderful experience, we had no hesitation to stay here again. Patty's response was very efficient and quick. The place was as clean as last year and it was more conveniently equipped. There was a beautiful welcome and happy anniversary basket on the dinning table with a lovely card! It was a wonderful surprise! We really enjoyed all the Maui goodies ( Pinnaple and Papaya were so delicious by the way) and we are now hooked on Maui CookKwees. We were so tired from our delayed flights but once we stepped into the room, we felt relaxed and happy. The next morning's view from the living room was priceless after sleeping good on the comfy bed. One day we had rain from the morning, we stayed in and watched TV all day. It was very nice to have Netflix. The combination of location, cleanliness, amenity and price should make it your top choice. We highly recommend this property. A lot of Aloha and Mahalo to Patty & Rick :)"
