  • Comfortable home in neighborhood, easy walk to beach

"Our family of four (two adults, two young adult sons) spent a week here after Christmas. This is the first VRBO in Hawaii we have rented that wasn't in a resort. It was convenient to drive over to Kailua Town or to get to the freeway to Honolulu or elsewhere. The neighborhood was convenient to shopping (Safeway and shops) and an easy walk to Kailua Beach. We saw the Presidential motorcade several times (the Obamas stay down the road.) The house was spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms and living areas were nicely appointed. The house does not have central AC, but we never missed it. The bedrooms have ceiling fans and that was all we needed. The kitchen was a bit tired, but we don't go to Hawaii to spend all of our time in the kitchen! It had all the equipment we needed and there was a new gas grill on the lanai. The one thing I really appreciated was that the kitchen cupboards and refrigerator were stocked with basic supplies that Carol urged us to use - coffee, rice, cooking oil, spices, condiments, marinades. We used some and left other supplies for the next guests. It really made us feel like we were at home and it was nice not to have to purchase something that you would only use a bit of. Also, there is a washer and dryer in the garage and detergent provided. Nice. The house is on the same lot as the owner's apartment plus another apartment. I was concerned that it would be noisy or we'd feel like we were under a microscope. No worries! We only saw the owners twice and never saw the tenants of the other apartment. Despite having walls of windows and sliders, the house was very private."

  • Great Cottage close to a Gorgeous Beach

"The cottage was Hawaiian themed and very comfortable & clean. It has everything you need! You get a wonderful breeze and can hear the ocean waves in the distance. A parrot occasionally flies by to say hello. The neighborhood is upscale and it is a short 50 yard walk to the beach down a neighborhood path. The beach exceeded all expectations, it was clean with white sand and you can take long walks in either direction. There is a small market close by that has great coffee and sandwiches. Kailua is a really cute beach town and was the perfect destination spot. The owners, Rick and Tam, were extremely nice and gave us great tips on places to visit. Overall - excellent!"

  • Splendid time in Kailua

"We were traveling with our extended family (six adults, two kids and a baby) all the way to Hawaii to find a really great home and a perfectly nice and courteous owner. We spent a whole month there hanging by the pool, surfing, body boarding, walking on the beach, soaking the sun, hiking and doing a lot of other great stuff...Kailua is a beautiful place and the house owner knows all its secrets and places you shouldn't miss."

"The beach house is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. So it's very private with our own beach entrance. It's literally less than a minute walk so it's super convenient! The home is great for a family of four. Our girls were very comfortable in their room. The master bedroom is large with plenty of windows to let the cool ocean breeze in. There's also AC. The kitchen had all the essentials for cooking. There's also a grill. No cooking for us since we planned on enjoying all the local grinds. There's a washer and dryer as well. We rented a car so getting around was super easy. For food, Safeway is located in Aikahi which is less than a 3 minute drive. If you want to hit Kailua town, that's less than five minutes. There's Target, Times Market, and WholeFoods. There's also tons of places to eat. Overall, our island experience could not have been possible without John who was very welcoming! This trip was to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We could have not asked for a more perfect home, location and host. We highly recommend this place for a family who wants a fantastic and comfortable time! Mahalo!"
