  • Special Family Vacation Experience

"When we decided to make Kona the place for a once in a lifetime family vacation, we never imagined that we would find such a perfect house to add to our special vacation experience. There were 11 of us that were lucky enough to stay for two weeks. This house is gorgeous, and the view is even more amazing. Being able to sit in the hot tub and watch the sun come light up first the coastline and then travel up mountain to us was the absolute perfect way to start our mornings. I never imagined how much time would be spent in both the pool and the hot tub, sometimes swimming and playing, but most of the time just floating and watching the vista. There was lots room for everyone and many long luxurious naps were enjoyed on the oh-so comfortable couches, both inside and outside on the lanai. The grounds provided hours of exploration and discovery of flowers, snails, mongoose, pheasant and lots of wonderful birds. We truly enjoyed the privacy and quiet. Letting the tree frogs sing us to sleep and then waking up to the bird song was a perfect end and beginning to the days. Two of our group have mobility issues and are unable to get into and out of a tub. The two walk in showers were heaven sent for them. This place was so wonderful that we truly had to force ourselves to go enjoy the rest of the Big Island. Michelle and Bob were wonderful to work with. I am hesitant to rave about the house, as I really don't want to let too many people know about this treasure."

  • Amazing stay in terrific location with outstanding host ... at an unbeatable price!

"Beachside Kailua is the place for any couple or individual who wants to be close to everything and stay in top of the line accommodations. This unit is cozy, comfortable, well-furnished, very clean, spacious for two, and has everything you need. It is an easy and direct walk (10 min) into Kailua town to enjoy all the dining, shopping, and attractions that the jewel of the Windward side has to offer. Most of all, it's 90 seconds walk to one of the best beaches on the planet! Martha is truly a gracious and professional hostess, who has experience in making many guests happy and welcome. It's no wonder why Beachside gets so many return guests and great reviews! My stay was easy and relaxing. No hassles at any point and only pleasant surprises of warmest aloha generosity. I'd absolutely stay here again and recommend Beachside to all my friends & family. Mahalo nui loa, Martha, for a great visit."

  • Nice, but quirky house

"This is a hard review to write. It's a real unique place and may be perfect for some. When we first arrived, it was overwhelming as it is way up a very long, steep, curving driveway. When we parked, the view of the bay was beautiful. We walked in the house into a very nice kitchen. In my family, there were 7 of us: me and my boyfriend, my son and his girlfriend, and my daughter and her husband and their 4 year old, my granddaughter. The house has 3 bedrooms- so we had to decide who got which and this presented a problem. There is a loft bed in one, but it wasn't clean enough for the child. The half bath is inside of another. My boyfriend thought he'd like it as he gets up at night. My daughter thought it was better for my granddaughter who sometimes gets up at night, but also didn't like the idea of others maybe using it during the night. The other bedroom had sliding doors to a deck, nice. So, where was the bathroom? It's off this deck. It's a nice, kind of outside bathroom with a view, but my daughter felt it wouldn't be safe walking out there at night as it rains every night, and it could be slippery. She preferred the room with the half bath. My boyfriend feared he would slip on the deck in the middle of the night if we had the room with the sliding doors. It was tense. We stayed in the room with the half bath. In addition, the owner's cat was there and my daughter and I are allergic and don't like cats. When the owner stopped by that first night, and it was dark out, to bring cat food, my daughter packed up the 3 of them, and they left. Coincidentally, her cousin lives on the same road and had room for them. But, I felt bad. I say all this so others understand when I say quirky. The pro: it's a nice house, it was clean except for the loft bed area, it has an awesome very high view of the beautiful bay, yacht club, island, the "outside of the house bath" is nice, there's nice decorations, there's a good washer and dryer (which is also kind of outside) with laundry products, there were plenty of towels, there are TVs, great kitchen (my daughter came to eat with us), and there's a hot tub which we did not use. The con: the listing should explain the layout because this was a family trip for my birthday and it caused stress, I really don't think it's conducive to little kids, I was too uncomfortable with the driveway both up and down, it had some plants, but no lawn, just concrete, and there was some building material around the area."

  • Great location, neighborhood, and owners!

"Came here for a mini staycation with my boyfriend and let's just say that this place was very welcoming and comfortable. Ken was very courteous and helpful from the beginning to the end. His dogs were super friendly and playful, wished we could have played with them more. This place is minutes away from everything you need! 10-15 minutes to get to the movie theater, many eateries such as Cinnamon's and Boots and Kimo's, Target, grocery stores, Lanikai pillbox hike, and beaches. The neighborhood was very nice and quiet. Would definitely recommend to friends and family, and would rent this property again. Also, thanks for the Christmas cookies! They were delicious and adorable!"
