  • Charming Bunglaw with Incredible Views

"Makapu'u is a 2 bedroom 2 bath traditional Hawaiian bungalow right on the oceans edge with unobstructed views for miles. This charming bungalow is like stepping back into time with modern amenities. There is a large modern and updated kitchen as well as the main bathroom. The first thing when we pulled in the driveway were the views! It doesn't get any better than this and you are right on the edge of the ocean. From the covered patio or the large windows across the front of the house there are views! We spent the majority of our ten days here sitting on the patio watching the whales. We even had a monk seal swim right up to us one day and we watched him from the edge of the property. Beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach toys for kids are all available in the sheds provided. I heard there was some update in snorkel equipment planned and we mentioned to them that items were broken. The management of this property is very accessible and I am sure if we asked for some other snorkel gear they would of accommodated us. Makapu'u and the other two houses that are a part of this compound have their own small beach and pier. The houses and the gardens are maintained beautifully with pride of ownership. Makapu'u is the last and most private of the three houses. It has it's own little fenced yard and vegetation landscape that provides privacy while on the patio and the hot tub (which also has views of the ocean!) You do share a driveway and parking area with the two other houses, but since this house is the last of three on the drive, no one comes into your yard. We met the couples and families that stayed in the other homes and found everyone to be friendly and great neighbors. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The owner of the properties (Mike and his dog Kawala) usually come by once a day to check on things like the hot tubs and any other maintenance items that need to be done. Because of his attention to his properties is why they are in such great condition. I should also mention they have top notch cleaners and it was spotless inside too when we arrived. Mike has a catamaran anchored out front, I highly recommend asking him about booking a sail out to Rabbit Island. Mike is an expert sailor and his family has lived on the Island for generations. He is very knowledgeable and very entertaining! There is noise from the road traffic behind the house so don't expect complete tranquility but this house is absolutely worth it!"

  • Wonderful beach house and cottage...perfect location!

"Our stay at the ocean view Hawaii beach house and cottage was awesome! We were a group of 1 senior, 7 adults, 2 teens and 2 kids age range 8 thru 73. Before our arrival, Gilles, the property mgr. was very helpful in answering our questions about the house and amenities. He was there to welcome us and show us around...When we arrived, the house and cottage were spotless. The house is exactly as in the photos & description. It was well equipped with everything we needed for our weeklong stay. We all enjoyed the pool and outdoor area...an especially nice surprise in the kitchen was a rice cooker. Perfect location...quick easy access to Waimanalo Beach...which was beautiful and not crowded. An easy walk with beach chairs, boogie boards & towels that were provided. We would highly recommend this beach house & cottage."

  • Soulful, Serene, Sublime

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: As a family of artists and nature lovers, this mid-century beach home was perfect for our vacation on Oahu. Waimanalo Beach is simply stunning - especially in the mornings as the sun rises over Rabbit Island. Beautiful, original art & artifacts from around the world grace the walls & floors of this well loved home. The soothing sound of a waterfall and koi pond is ever present and anchors the lush front yard gardens while the miles of sky, sea, sand and stars provide a spectacular backdrop for the backyard. We are a family of cooks and ate dinner at "home" every night. We appreciated the layout of the kitchen as it allows many cooks to chop/stir/serve without stepping one another's toes. Any problems we had were efficiently addressed by Hawaii Beach Homes. If you are looking for nightlife, shopping, and sleek modern appliances, this may not be the place for you. However if instead you want to unplug, rejuvenate and connect with loved ones, nature, and yourself - THIS may be the right choice for you. I know we want to return again and again!"
