  • Amazing Place...Amazing People!

"If you are planning to stay on this end of the island...THIS is where you want to spend your time! First off, the location is perfect. Situated directly across the road from beautiful Waimanalo Beach (I would just throw on my swim suit, walk to the beach barefoot, take a dip and come back and shower off in my own private outdoor shower), about a half mile from a great local co-op store that has fresh local, organic produce AND the most fabulous Ahi Poke on the island, only 10 minutes from both Kailua and Hawaii Kai - with all the shopping amenities you could ask for - yet you remain in a small local community that feels mellow, homey and friendly. Next, the cottage itself and the surrounding property are as described if not better. The cozy, bright and cheery cottage immediately felt like home when I walked in. It contains every imaginable amenity you need, plenty of closet and dresser space, fully equipped kitchen, loads of towels and blankets, etc. Then outside there is this wonderful gazebo, complete with comfy couches and lounging chairs. I had this all to myself and spent a LOT of time out there. From there I could see the towering cliffs during the day and the stars by night. Truly a little slice of paradise. Last, but surely not least, the hosts Rose and Koa are unbelievable gracious and sweet people. They not only responded to every little question I had immediately and completely, but went out of their way to make me feel at home and like one of the family. But...they didn't encroach on my space. Chatting with them is a pleasure, and being long time local residents they know everything there is to know about the island. Okay...enough said. Can you tell I loved it here? :-) If you choose to stay here you won't be disappointed."

  • Great stay in Oahu!

"My husband and I stayed in the treehouse unit while in Hawaii for a family wedding. We found the unit very comfortable and it was tastefully decorated. The grounds were immaculate. Quiet neighborhood and only half a block from the beach. If we were going back to Oahu, we'd stay again."

  • Wonderful position, great accommodation, lovely host

"This is a terrific place to stay and enjoy the windward side of Oahu. The property is as good as it looks in the photos and the video. It is well appointed for a large group and there is plenty of space to congregate or find a nook for some quiet time. The yard is fenced in with rock walls and is perfectly safe - we had a toddler with us and she roamed free within the garden. Take the short walk to the beach across some shore grass and sand and the vista opens up to an (almost) private beach. The swimming was lovely with no currents at all and the waves were fun but not large. Our older children loved being in and out of the water at all hours. to cap it all off, the sunrises were amazing, with a spectacular show almost every day. You definitely need a car, but nothing too fancy, just something to get to the other activities on the island. Nothing seems to far away - an hour in the car is a long trip on Oahu. The airport is about 35 minutes in normal traffic and you have a lovely transition from the hustle and bustle of the Honolulu side through the tunnels and into the laid back windward side. You must remember that this is a beach house and as such has more wear and tear than in an inland location. Things do corrode and may not look their best for a long time. But everything works well and we had no problems. Janet was wonderful to deal with during the booking process, quick to answer questions and make sure that things were ready, even with a very early arrival time (8.00 am). A great hostess and we will be recommending this house for friends who want to visit Hawaii"

  • Location cannot be beat!

"This home is adorable and possibly the cleanest and most organized vacation rental we have ever stayed. Agree with other reviewers that the kitchen is well-stocked and the appliances were also very nice. We found the beds to all be comfortable. The back room did suffer at times from road noise; however, the front room enjoyed the lovely rhythms of the ocean. The A/C worked well for all spaces in the home which was important to one of the members in our party. Our time outdoors at this home was the absolute best... we were able to access the water and enjoy use of the water toys we found in the homes outdoor storage. We even spotted a turtle while snorkeling to the right of the pier! A short walk from the home toward the left, we found Pahonu Pond... (check google earth)... you feel like you are in a huge swimming pool and the historical aspect is interesting. We also learned while there from other tourists that this location was used in filming Magnum PI! Home configuration notes that may or may not matter to your party: The larger (king) bedroom with gorgeous ocean views does not have an attached bathroom... this room will use the huge and gorgeously updated bathroom (double vanity) across the living/dining space and likely shared with anyone sleeping on the living room day beds. The smaller, darker (also king) room in the back does have a much smaller attached bathroom (single vanity), but the toilet is separate from the sink and shower/tub and shares space with the washer and dryer. The sink and tub/shower space has a door for privacy; however the toilet/washer/dryer space has only a heavy curtain for privacy from the bedroom. For our group of my husband and I, our young son, and my mother, the space worked well. We thoroughly enjoyed the location and the meticulous care of the home, and we appreciated the help and sincerity we got from both Laycie and Mike when we needed help! Many thanks!"
