  • Charming Bunglaw with Incredible Views

"Makapu'u is a 2 bedroom 2 bath traditional Hawaiian bungalow right on the oceans edge with unobstructed views for miles. This charming bungalow is like stepping back into time with modern amenities. There is a large modern and updated kitchen as well as the main bathroom. The first thing when we pulled in the driveway were the views! It doesn't get any better than this and you are right on the edge of the ocean. From the covered patio or the large windows across the front of the house there are views! We spent the majority of our ten days here sitting on the patio watching the whales. We even had a monk seal swim right up to us one day and we watched him from the edge of the property. Beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel gear, beach toys for kids are all available in the sheds provided. I heard there was some update in snorkel equipment planned and we mentioned to them that items were broken. The management of this property is very accessible and I am sure if we asked for some other snorkel gear they would of accommodated us. Makapu'u and the other two houses that are a part of this compound have their own small beach and pier. The houses and the gardens are maintained beautifully with pride of ownership. Makapu'u is the last and most private of the three houses. It has it's own little fenced yard and vegetation landscape that provides privacy while on the patio and the hot tub (which also has views of the ocean!) You do share a driveway and parking area with the two other houses, but since this house is the last of three on the drive, no one comes into your yard. We met the couples and families that stayed in the other homes and found everyone to be friendly and great neighbors. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The owner of the properties (Mike and his dog Kawala) usually come by once a day to check on things like the hot tubs and any other maintenance items that need to be done. Because of his attention to his properties is why they are in such great condition. I should also mention they have top notch cleaners and it was spotless inside too when we arrived. Mike has a catamaran anchored out front, I highly recommend asking him about booking a sail out to Rabbit Island. Mike is an expert sailor and his family has lived on the Island for generations. He is very knowledgeable and very entertaining! There is noise from the road traffic behind the house so don't expect complete tranquility but this house is absolutely worth it!"

  • Great place to stay and easily accessable to all

"My wife and I went with my 9 year old son and 4 year old Daughter. This place was everything as advertised and more. Rosina and her husband prepared everything about this place and didn't leave about a single detail. They were also such gracious hosts. The town of Waimanalo is very small and quiet, yet large enough to provide everything you need. Its close to Honolulu as well as some of the places we went to such as The North Shore, Polynesian cultural center, Pearl Harbor and other nearby beaches. On that note, the beach closest to the cottage was very beautiful and a great place for kids to play in. Can't wait to go back."

  • Beautiful house, fantastic owners!!!

"We are a family of 5 with 3 kids aged 8-15. We come to Oahu every 1.5 yrs and normally rent a house. This one clearly ranks above all the others we've had before. The place is modern, upscale, super clean and very well equipped with all amenities. BBQ and patio out back is well appointed, the house itself is well stocked with snorkelling equipment, beach toys, chairs and boogie boards. Washing machines were much appreciated along with the Vitamix blender for homemade acai bowls :) The best part of the experience was interacting with the gracious owners Liane and Dana. What wonderful people. They were always quick to answer questions and were genuinely concerned that we have the best stay ever. On our last night they even took us crabbing, which the kids loved (ymmv). We definitely will return. Mahalo L and D for a great vacation!"

  • Beautiful Waimanalo was spectacular!

"Staying in Waimanalo at the beautiful home of Nan And Abraham was a true delight. My brother, is wife, my son and his wife and my wife and I all agree that our two week stay was the best vacation we had ever had ( and not long enough). Abe and Nan were always available to give sightseeing pointers and shopping suggestions. We visited my old house in Pearl Harbor, my high school and circled the entire island several times on our many adventures. My wife and I climbed diamond Head and watched surfing competitions at Waimea, Sunset and Pipeline. We enjoyed shopping in the country and at the Swap Meet at Aloha stadium. Of course, "our" beach down the street in Waimanalo is one of the finest in all Hawaii. We relaxed day after day in total awe of this spectacular place. As our hosts, Nan and Abe were superb and ready and willing to do everything in their power to ensure we enjoyed our vacation to the fullest. Our plan is to return next year and stay even longer (if Abe and Nan will have us). Mahalo very much!"
