  • Piece of Paradies

"Very nice and clean room. There is everything you need. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The place in the garden right at the beach is the best you can get on Oahu. Absolutely perfect! Thank you!"

  • Comfortable, private, and away from the busy tourist activity.

"We went here in part for our was a wonderful and relaxing stay! From the lanai overlooking the beach, we saw dolphins, surfers, and snorkelers enjoying the water. We met some wonderful residents poolside, and enjoyed feeling like we were locals instead of harried tourists. The sunsets were spectacular, and at night the stars and moon were bright and sparkly. A few times, we saw bioluminescent squid in the waves breaking on the beach at night...unexpected and intriguing! We were close to hiking trails, and snorkeling was perfect from the State Park beach next to us...which was never crowded. We saw many types of fish and some turtles lazily swimming beneath us. The breeze flowed through from 3 sides of the unit, and kept us pretty comfortable. The sound of the surf was all around...sort of "white-noise". We traveled all over the island, did some hiking and exploring, and it always was nice to come "home". In nearby Waianai, there were stores to meet grocery and personal needs, and some nice restaurants too. We liked Cochitas...a Columbian/Puerto Rican restaurant recommended by residents. But we usually bought local foods to prepare ourselves. "Big-Time" shopping is available also, about 30 minutes away...and also the intersection to go to the North Shore. We got souvenirs at the "Swap Meet" at Aloha Stadium (Halewa Stadium on the signs). The unit was clean and bright, and the bed was a comfortable memory foam type. We used our Netflix and Amazon accounts on the TVs, and watched the Seahawks!! Everything we needed was supplied in the way of cookware and beach supplies (towels, chair, umbrella)...hairdryer, and a coin-op laundry. The beach was easy to access, and we felt like we had plenty of privacy as we sat on the lanai to eat, read, or star gaze. The owners were great to work with, and the staff attending the property were nice folks...and nice to visit with. Traffic is slow...but you're on vacation, so just give yourself time to go at a sea-turtle's pace. We liked hiking up to Manoa Falls (above Waikiki) and Makapu'u Point lighthouse on the northeast of the island. We also drove almost all of the cross-mauka roads and along the perimeter of the island...gorgeous!! There is a lot of history at Pearl Harbor, and many old gun placements and lookouts from the 1940s and 1950s all over. We liked the local farmers' markets...the fruit is fantastic, and the avocados are the size of softballs! Come enjoy Makaha!"

  • Beautiful Home - Basket of Heaven

"The house is so phenomenal. It is even prettier in person. It is roomy and cozy all at the same time. The layout is perfect. 4800 SF of lusciousness! I love that each bedroom has it's own bathroom and lanai. It was more than enough room for all 8 of us whether we wanted to hang out together or have some quiet time. We had breakfast and dinner together most every day. We loved having breakfast out on the wrap around porch. The property itself is so amazing because it has coconuts, limes, avocados, bananas, and papayas. Plus the landscaping is so well taken care of that we enjoyed just hanging out in the yard. There were beautiful birds, funny chickens, and happy roosters. The pool is wonderful and refreshing. It is the perfect setting because it is close to everything but set back enough to enjoy nature. The ocean is right across the street. You can walk to the beaches. If you go out from the house to the can stroll along the beautiful beaches and enjoy the scenery. Just keep your eyes on the ocean. The water can come in quick. For swimming, you can also go to the beaches to the left. You can walk or drive to Shark's Cove. It's right across from the food trucks next to FoodLand. The water felt wonderful, the views are magnificent, and the sun felt so warm. We got to see some amazing surfing. So cool! We went Whale Watching, Hang gliding (Mr. Bill's), watched the perfect sunset at Turtle Bay Resort Club, and had an unforgettable experience at the Polynesian Cultural Center. There are so many great places to eat but most days we cooked in the ginormous gourmet kitchen. We also did a lot of shopping. There are tons of great places to walk through. Many unique items in Waliema and a lot of little shops near the Polynesian Cultural Center. Michael is the perfect host. He made sure that we got into the house and gave us great tips on where to eat. We had a question about the wi-fi and he answered us immediately. The property was so relaxing that we felt like we were home. We will never ever forget our vacation there and we plan to come back in another year. If we could rate it higher than 5 stars we would."

  • Perfect island location

"Loved this property. On site gear to enjoy the water and beach, no need to rent or buy. Plenty of electronics with internet access and great TV and even movies if you need it. Clean, open and literally right on the coast. Snorkeled as much as we could handle and the beach to the east is a joke, literally seems fake. Out door shower to rinse so you don't have to track in all the sand each day, grill.....and the view from the back porch is amazing. The back porch made for one amazing standing desk and office when "work" had to be done. We have already discussed a trip back to this same location, when you find something so perfect why change it up? We did buy the AC as an addition and it was well worth it as they installed units in the home to be used in particular rooms. If you prefer sleeping in "cool" locations then I would say its a must. Other than in the bedrooms we didn't find much need for it as we were on the GO the remainder of the trip. Would suggest this place to anyone who desired a great stay on the North Shore."
