  • Very good value (cost + space = good value)

"I often read reviews and am blown away by the number of people who don't exactly understand that there is a difference between price and value. This bungalow isn't a high end resort, there are no granite counter tops or fancy amenities. The price for the area also doesn't go as high either as places that have those types of things as part of the overall value. This is a quaint, simple bungalow in a relatively good location to several little towns. that makes this a very good value for what we needed. It was super clean and the owner was easy to work with. We were only there for 2 days, so we didn't use the space long-term to really identify if there were any issues really. We didn't encounter any and the owner seemed very accessible if we had any questions. One super positive thing I loved...clearly if people left items from their stay, those things were kept as kind of a "pass it on" mentality. I loved that because I got sun burned the day we arrived and there was Aloe already under the sink. It was great to not have to go buy a whole bottle for a little immediate relief. (we left it there for the next person of course:)) There is a very quiet, private beach. We didn't explore it a lot, the part right when you walk in is rocky. It looked sandy further down. We mainly just wanted to be able to drive south from the location to explore that side of the island (if you really like nature/simple outdoor activities, we recommend to spend as little time as possibly over by Honolulu....this side is way better!). Easy access to a drug store and some good food and several beaches in the area."

  • Great experience, highly recommended

"Our family of six adults stayed at the Hale Waika property over the Christmas Holiday and really enjoyed our stay. The house is fully furnished, comes with 2 bathrooms (rare) and had some nice extras like beach chairs and an umbella. Each bedroom had a fan, and a large wall mounted air conditioner is in the living room. A washer/dryer, located in a breeze-way connecting Hale Waika with the other rental unit behind it, is shared by both rental properties. There was enough parking for our two rental cars and the two rental cars of our neighbors in the other unit. The Hale Waika property fronts on the Kamehameha Hwy, a busy two-lane road, but we were not bothered by traffic noise; others might, however. Directly across the street is the Kokololio Park with its beautiful beach. The first morning we were there we literally took our coffee to the beach. Laie is a mellow, coastal community, which we fell in love with. Groceries, liquor, pharmacy, gas, and a small movie theater are nearby. Our only very minor complaint is that there were only five chairs at the kitchen table for the six of us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hale Waika and recommend it to others looking for a safe, comfortable home away from home in one of the worlds most beautiful places. We would rent this property again."

  • A great place to stay on the north shore.

"The view from the balcony is incredible. It is worth the price of the rental alone. We pretty much only slept in the apartment and then drank our morning coffee on the balcony before leaving for beaching/hiking/eating each day, however it could not have been a more perfect home base. The rental was painless and the property is exactly as advertised. I cannot think of anything I could complain about and would definitely stay here again. If you want a quiet place to stay and don't mind spending some time in the car to get back to honolulu or up to haleiwa and the north shore beaches, this is a pretty solid spot. Also it is like 10 min from the Polynesian Cultural Center and 15 min from Kualoa ranch."

  • Fabulous stay in paradise!

"Mahalo nui loa, Kathy, for a fabulous stay in your condo. The condo was beautifully decorated and modern inside. All the amenities of home. The bed was extremely comfortable. I loved being in the corner unit with the largest lanai. The cross breezes were wonderful and kept the place cool. I must admit; however, when we drove up, we were a little taken a back because the outside front of the building looked somewhat broken down and very old. I was somewhat embarrassed as I recommended this place to other family members who were also going to be staying there in other units at the same time. I was so pleasantly surprised to walk into the Kathy's beautiful condo which you would never expect looking from the outside of the building. Don't let the outside of the building fool you. Two other sets of our family booked two other units of Kathy's. Everyone was very pleased with their units. The only suggestion I would have is to supply rice cookers in each of the units. One of the units had one; however, our's did not. Other than that, everything that we needed was supplied. There were a lot of spices already there. I purchased a lot of spices before arriving to the condo not knowing what was already there. Many visitors donate what they don't use to the condo. There was sunscreen, aloe (for after sun), itch medicine, spices, etc. We left detergent for the washer and dryer sheets for the dryer along with more spices. I liked the fact that there was security at night in the parking lot watching over everyone's cars. Even though we never left anything of value in the car, it was nice to know there was security. The property sits on a beautiful beach with reef protected waters. Even though up North Shore the waves were big and unswimmable, at Pat's at Punalu'u - the water was calm. We were there for a family reunion, and all family members thanked me for recommending these condos. Jay (Kathy's son) was fabulous and responded quickly when we needed light bulbs replaced. He was very accommodating and friendly. I made it a point to text him at the end of the trip to tell him to help himself to all our unopened canned and frozen food, and beverages for his family. It was great having 3 sets of families staying in 3 of Kathy's condos. Worked out perfectly and everyone was happy. It was one of our best vacations that we have had in Hawai'i, and I've been to Hawai'i many times. I would recommend Kathy's condos in a heartbeat."
