  • Charming and Delightful

"Our party of four loved staying at Blue Ginger. First of all Kathy, the owner, was very helpful in addressing all my questions prior to and after our stay. She really does an outstanding job providing all you may need for your stay. We were welcomed by a lovely bowl of fruit (the apple bananas were delish!) and a basket with coffee, tea, chocolates, etc.) The house was clean and kitchen was fully stocked – even included zip lock bags, paper towels, OFF bug spray, and some seasonings. The flower arrangements were gorgeous. The décor was charming and beds comfortable. We did have an occasional gecko that crawled on the walls, and a frog seemed to be sitting at the back door waiting to be invited in, but that just added to the charm of staying in a tropical home. There were plenty of bath and beach towels. She even provided laundry soap to wash our clothes. We enjoyed the BBQ one evening (included all the nec. tools). We left the windows open the entire time to allow the trade winds to flow through the house and it was wonderful. At night we did hear the traffic on the highway, but the sound of the waves crashing was so soothing it lullabied us to sleep. In the morning we could watch the sunrise from the windows in the front living room, but every morning I walked across the street sat on a picnic bench, or a rock on the beach to watch the sunrise. There are lots of crab holes and in the morning and when the sun came up, they would run out to the ocean! The beach gear was helpful to have, especially the rolling cooler, and beach mats. We took one of the Kayaks out across the street. We went snorkeling at Turtle Bay (nice calm waters), the rip currents at Sharks Cove were strong but we got to see a dolphin jumping around, and a beached Monk Seal – she swam right passed us to get back into the ocean. We ate at Uncle Bobo’s, a tiny little BBQ place up the road that was recommended by the owner and it was so good! We also ate at the Shrimp Truck which was a 3 minute walk to Ching’s Store (but I preferred the Shrimp Scampi plate we had a Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck which was about a 20 minute drive along the Hwy). North Shore Tacos was good and open late. The home and the area was quiet, relaxing and beautiful. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to those who are not expecting that high-end resort vacation lifestyle but rather a nice quiet, relaxing tropical home away from home."

  • Peaceful Paradise

"We couldn't be more pleased with our experience. This was a first for us - to book through VRBO - so we didn't know what to expect. No worries though - since this vacation rental exceeded our expectations. The photos and everything that was written about this unit was spot on. It is located on a beautiful beach where you can swim and snorkel, lay under a palm tree, sit under an umbrella table or take a dip in the pool. Just beautiful views of the ocean from the lanai and the constant sound of the ocean was very relaxing. The unit is perfect for two - it is equipped with everything! You can come with a bathing suit, pair of shorts and toothbrush and everything else is accounted for. The unit has A/C (no need to use it), a washer/dryer, movies, books, umbrellas, ponchos, fans, sand chairs, snorkel equipment, boogie boards, toilet paper, towels, and a wide variety of cooking tools and appliances - and spices and condiments. The unit was very clean and nicely decorated - very pleasant. The unit is situated nicely on Oahu - close enough to Honolulu (although we only went once to go to Pearl Harbor), but really in the "country" with relaxed lifestyle and ability to hop in the car to explore. This is a great place to escape - the building has signs everywhere saying "Quiet" and "Quiet, people resting" and everyone adheres to it. There were plenty of people there and kids, too - but it was quiet and peaceful. A busy day on the beach might have 15 people. The building also has a security guard and secure elevators. The owner provided an entire binder about the building, location and sites and this was very helpful. Great places to eat nearby - 2 Bald Guys, Papa Ole's, Giovanni's Shrimp truck. We only booked two events prior to arriving: Pearl Harbor (half day tour through E Noa tours - great) and Chief's Luau (spectacular and warm and welcoming - we were touched by the experience) - otherwise we just explored. We were so sad to leave - are hearts are in Hawaii and staying at this unit made for an unforgettable experience. Mahalo!"

  • Great location, great property, great service

"My wife and I stayed here for four nights and had a great stay. Excellent location - short walk to private beach, grocery store, and several food options. And just a few minute drive to Laie, PCC, BYU-H, etc. Greg was great to deal with and very responsive. Unit was in good condition and met our needs perfectly."
