  • Ideal for Families with Young Kids

"Our family of three (mom, dad, 2-year old toddler) stayed for a week in June 2016. We had a few days of obligations near Honolulu and the rest of the time did not need to be anywhere in particular. Several days we barely left the house - at morning low tide the lagoon is almost dry. Our daughter used it as a giant sandbox (toys provided by the landlord) and tried and tried again to catch the fish and crabs that congregated in the small pool at the foot of the breakwater. At hightide the waves would crash over the breakwater and make the lagoon into a safe and enjoyable wave pool that is safe for even very young kids. We never used the kayaks or snorkeling gear but the reef beyond the breakwater looked beautiful and we saw many neighbors fishing and paddleboarding out there. Being able to watch the moods of the ocean throughout the day was mesmerizing. Being able to go straight down to the beach without having to load a car or pack a bag, and being able to clean off in the outdoor shower before coming back in, took away so much stress and unpleasantness. While the location may seem a bit remote by Oahu standards, nothing is more than an hour away, and we found the quiet isolation a welcome respite from the busier side of the island. As some of the other reviews suggest, the house itself is not in pristine shape, but the location and value proposition cannot be beat. Would you rather be in a beautiful Waikiki hotel room several blocks from the beach or in a perfectly nice house that is literally on top of the beach? Easy answer for our family. We hope to come back someday and enjoy more of the water activities with older kids."

  • Not the Ritz but who needs that when your in Hawaii

"Cute and comfortable but what makes it OH SO SPECIAL is the view. If you are torn between a fancier place that's not directly on the water and this one, choose this. It makes all the difference in the world. We sat on the deck every morning and watched the sunrise and fed the silly Myna birds and wood peckers (they like danish best). Very quiet, really cant hear the traffic from the road from the deck or inside just the waves. Could use a little sprucing up, the reason I gave it a four instead of a five, but that certainly won't affect the quality of your stay. Bed was decent. Great for the price. Arish, the manager, is very sweet and accommodating. Arish left ya a bottle of wine, an old lady can only drink so much even on vaca, hope ya didn't give that away."

  • Best location on the island

"Really wonderful unit. We really enjoyed our stay. My kids loved the beautiful surroundings and the wildlife. The toads, geckos and chickens were a real treat for them. Loved being so close to the Polynesian Cultural center. We spent a full day there and were exhausted by the time it closed and it was less than 5 minutes to get back to the unit and jump into bed. Best location on the island, Turtle Beach is right up the street."
