Recent Kaaawa reviews

  • Ka'elewa'a is a beautiful property perfectly suited for a family or couple.

"We absolutely loved our stay at Ka'elewa'a. The suite was very lovely and very well equipped. The cupboards were well stocked with spices and condiments as well as all the appliances and dishes needed. A great beach, perfect for any age, especially little ones, was literally seconds away and the backyard hammock was a favourite hangout for our 7 year old. The suite is also within walking distance of a grocery store, drug store, post office and a couple restaurants which we found very handy. Lani and her family have done a great job providing a home away from home for their guests and we hope to visit again soon."

  • Paradise it is...Best BEACHFRONT location

"It really doesn't get any better than this! Upon arrival, we were struck by the beauty of this property. The photos are beautiful, but nothing can prepare you for the real thing. There are sandy beaches on both sides of the property, literally steps to the ocean. Beautiful waters with gentle waves make this a great place for all ages!!! Two large grassy lawn areas make it easy to find the perfect amount of sun/shade at all times. Even the outdoor shower has views of both mountains and ocean!!! We expected moderate noise, but We did not even notice the traffic noise, even with the windows open. Cleanliness is really important to us and the cottage exceeded our expectations. The attention to detail and focus on comfort are evident in every nook and cranny. The owner has literally anticipated every possible guest need! I normally try to avoid bringing personal taste into reviews but I feel the need to weigh in due to one former reviewers highly critical and inaccurate assessments of what she deemed to be shoddy furnishings. The linens are clearly high quality, soft in the way only luxury linens wear. Rest assured, furniture bore no resemblance to "a horses back!?" Furnishings were chosen to invite relaxation and make a comfortable transition from the outdoors- truly what you would hope to find at any true beach house. The floors are beautiful and (it's worth mentioning) quite similar to the painted floors in Martha Stewart's Hamptons beach house. All in all an amazing value. Better than described and one of the most relaxing vacations ever. We will be back soon."

  • Ideal for Families with Young Kids

"Our family of three (mom, dad, 2-year old toddler) stayed for a week in June 2016. We had a few days of obligations near Honolulu and the rest of the time did not need to be anywhere in particular. Several days we barely left the house - at morning low tide the lagoon is almost dry. Our daughter used it as a giant sandbox (toys provided by the landlord) and tried and tried again to catch the fish and crabs that congregated in the small pool at the foot of the breakwater. At hightide the waves would crash over the breakwater and make the lagoon into a safe and enjoyable wave pool that is safe for even very young kids. We never used the kayaks or snorkeling gear but the reef beyond the breakwater looked beautiful and we saw many neighbors fishing and paddleboarding out there. Being able to watch the moods of the ocean throughout the day was mesmerizing. Being able to go straight down to the beach without having to load a car or pack a bag, and being able to clean off in the outdoor shower before coming back in, took away so much stress and unpleasantness. While the location may seem a bit remote by Oahu standards, nothing is more than an hour away, and we found the quiet isolation a welcome respite from the busier side of the island. As some of the other reviews suggest, the house itself is not in pristine shape, but the location and value proposition cannot be beat. Would you rather be in a beautiful Waikiki hotel room several blocks from the beach or in a perfectly nice house that is literally on top of the beach? Easy answer for our family. We hope to come back someday and enjoy more of the water activities with older kids."

  • The Wedding Plantation House

"Our Daughter and her husband pick the Plantation House for their wedding site and it was spectacular. True Hiawii old school style and perfect for the occasion. Three house's plenty of room for everyone, the Lani was so nice to sit and take it all in. The pool was just the right size and very clean. We had the wedding ceremony down front and then moved it to the main out door area between the houses. The pool house Lani had plenty of room for music and dancing. The mountains in the background are very majestic. Pictures do it justice for an event to remember. But experience it for yourself!!! It was truly a blessing to have had are daughters wedding at this wonderful setting."
