  • Serene tropical stay by the ocean

"This place was exactly what I had in mind when scouting for places to stay in Oahu with my husband and two kids (14, 10). The house was just as it was pictured and it was just enough space to enjoy our week there. The grounds were well-kept, the unit was clean and well-maintained. It is an attached unit, but we only heard our neighbors once or twice (I hope it was the same for them). They give you warnings about having a sensitive septic system, which I was paranoid about in regards to keeping the sand out, but we didn't have any issues. The outdoor shower and hose was great for getting rid of that excess sand that makes its way into everything. The other units are super close, but if you don't have privacy issues, then it's not a problem because the windows need to be open for ventilation and cooling as there is no AC in the unit. The fans and ocean breeze did a pretty good job of keeping it bearable during the day and the nights were perfect. We went in October when the water gets rougher on North Shore so unfortunately we didn't get calm water by us or get to snorkle right out front. Be prepared for the same if you go between Oct-April, but it is still nice to be right on the water. There are bays close by that have calmer water such as Waimea Bay. The beach right down the road was so close and private, but again, the waters were a bit rough during our stay. We stopped at Costco on the way to the house, however, there's a Food Land just a few miles up the road, past Haleiwa, that would be better to get food so you don't over-buy at Costco. We hardly ate out, which was nice. We did, however, make a few stops at Matsumoto's Shave Ice. :) Yum! And the shrimp trucks in Haleiwa. We loved the ocean views as well as the mountains. There's a polo field next door so we had fun petting the horses and there are some friendly neighborhood cats as well. And frogs! My husband and daughter had fun catching them at night. Our trip was a great mix of activities (Diamond Head, Army Museum, Manoa Falls, Pearl Harbor, Byodo-In Temple, Dole Plantation, Polynesian Cultural Center) and just relaxing on the different beaches or at the house. Such a fantastic trip. Thanks for the memories!"

  • Exactly the home away from home we hoped to find!

"The listing pictures tell only part of the story. This beach front vacation home has every comfort imaginable in an beautifully furnished and generously equipped setting! It feels like a personal vacation home because it is one, and the owner, Pat, extends genuine hospitality and care to every guest. The saltwater pool and hot tub were such a luxury to have all to ourselves. The outdoor shower delighted everyone. The view, ocean breeze, and sound of the surf were everything we hoped to find when we decided to stay at the North Shore. We'll be back! Ruthanne, Curtis and Maile Wong"

  • Beautiful and relaxing

"The house was beautiful and comfortable. Our families were able to relax with more than enough room for privacy. The beautiful blue waters were relaxing to watch out of the backyard or from the living room. So many things close by from stores to gift shops. Every once and a while we could view sky divers flying over head above the ocean and land across the street. The owners were always very timely with their responses, and provided great information. When we travel to Oahu again we will definitely consider staying here."

  • Beautiful location, awesome house, perfect getaway

"From the moment we arrived we were in love with the house and location-it had everything we needed! There were 3 families that stayed here….6 adults and 5 children all under the age of four. We all fit comfortably. The kids loved playing in the backyard and the ocean wall was tall enough that we didn't have to worry about them falling off. However, we still made sure to watch closely so they didn't climb up but it wasn't a big concern as I had thought it might be. The house was well stocked and even had a highchair and portable crib. Also had lots of great games, snorkel gear, fishing pools, and binoculars! The only thing that would've been nice was to have some blackout curtains for the bedrooms. We couldn't swim directly in front of the house because there wasn't enough beach but the view was beautiful and we loved listening to the ocean! There was an awesome beach just a couple hundred yards down the road that we went to almost every day...evening time at this beach was magical! It was always quit and we saw lots of turtles, some stingrays, and even a seal. Haleiwa was only about a 10-15 minute drive from the house. We loved the Waialua Bakery there! You must go...they make all the food from scratch and grow most of the fruits and vegetables on their local family farm. Ice-cream sandwiches and smoothies are amazing, as well as,the sandwiches! Great prices too! We also rented some kayaks in Haleiwa from Tropical Rush to go up the river. I'd also recommend doing this during the evening as you're more likely to see turtles and the weather is cooler, afterwards they give you free shaved ice which is really yummy. (Don't waste your time standing in line for a shaved ice at Motsomotos) This trip was absolutely amazing and The Hawaii house was perfect for the quiet and relaxed trip we were hoping to have! Loved the beautiful location we'll be back for sure!"
