  • Look no further! Fantastic unit on North Shore

"As a couple who uses VRBO to find place to stay almost everywhere we vacation, we can tell you this one is a GEM! This unit is prefect for what we looked for in a north shore unit. It spacious, very well appointed, and is nicely located! And, very important for us in July - it has wonderful air conditioning! We had our own half of the driveway to park our rental car, which was nice to have off-street parking. Our entrance and side yard were private - just for our use - including an outdoor shower, which was great after a swim in the ocean (3 minute walk down the street). Debbie was very easy to contact, and went out of her way to help us. The unit has everything we needed! Even beach chairs (nice Tommy Bahama low sitting style), beach umbrella, rain umbrella, snorkel gear, boogie/knee boards, beach towels, bath towel, etc etc etc. We didn't lack for anything. Food trucks within a 5-10 minute walk down the road. Grocery store right there too. Choka, their dog is wonderful! If you leave the side gate between your private yard and the owner's back yard, she will sometimes come around and spend time with you. But, if you prefer no visits from the dog, just don't open the gate - very easy."

  • Location, location, location

"The location is perfect! World class snorkeling across the street. You can get in the water before the crowds arrive and don't need to fight for parking. It is about a 1.5 mile bike ride to Sunset Beach or a 0.5 mile bike ride to Waimea Beach Park. Easy. The place itself was perfect for two and there can be a third on a sofa out in the main room. We only had one ice tray in the freezer so we bought two more (and left them behind) so we could have ice water during the days at the beach. There is a spice rack in the kitchen, but there were no spices in it! We left behind salt and pepper. We used all the amenities: bicycles, snorkel equipment, beach chairs, outdoor grill, outside table and chairs, and the laundry facilities (with laundry detergent). It was great to have all that available! And you can't beat the location."

  • The Perfect Hideaway for Couples

"Lynette's "Pristine Hideaway" was a perfect place to stay for my husband and I. The granny unit is simply charming, and it had everything we needed: kitchen ware, well stocked pantry, beach gear and towels, BBQ, and bicycles . We had so much fun riding the bikes provided along the coast line. This gem is right across the street from the best snorkeling on the island. The sunsets were truly beautiful. Lynette was the perfect hostess. She is friendly, warm, and inviting... not to mention the adorable Maggie (her dog) and friendly kitty, which made us feel right at home. We took a drive out to Turtle Bay, and I was SO glad that we chose Lynette's place instead. I have recommended this sweet spot to a few of my friends who are thinking of traveling to Oahu. I would gladly book this little retreat again. Thank you so much Lynette for making our short stay so wonderful! Aloha and Mahalo!"

  • Great property, great location, "real Oahu"

"We had a lovely time near the northwestern tip of Oahu. The area is convenient to everywhere on the island by vehicle (45 mins to 1 hr), with a relaxing drive through the agricultural part of the island, hitting only a little traffic on the way to Honolulu or elsewhere SW/SE. The ocean out the back door, beaches just down the road, mountains on the other side of the street, seeing sunrise/sunsets both from your backyard --it all made for an amazing stay. The property was in great shape, clean, as listed, and was plenty of room for our party of six. It was warm inside after coming back in the afternoons, but as soon as the oceanside doors were open, the house was instantly cool again. The kids even got a little cold at night, so heat isn't a problem, although the humidity takes a few days to get used to. Plenty of extra amenities made the trip easier: beach towels, boogie boards, cooler--these definitely came in handy. Kitchen was well-stocked (even a blender for smoothies/milkshakes when we weren't eating shave ice). Large DVD selection if you want to spend time indoors (this is Hawaii). The kids would have liked a backyard beach, but still amazing views. Front fence helped with privacy and car noise from semi-busy road. Area felt safe with two kids camps nearby. Great hikes 2 & 3 miles away, quickly rising to amazing ocean views in the mountainous state park across the road and a 2.5 mi hike that gives amazing sunrise views from the absolute northwest tip of the island. Each of these trailheads is accessible by car in 5 mins--some of the premier hikes on the island. For hang-gliding or sky-diving, the airfield across the street is where many go on the island for this--staying here avoids the hour drive from Waikiki. The North Shore was 30 minutes away, Waikiki 50 mins with traffic, Turtle Bay (snorkeling), Turtle Beach (sea turtles) 25-30 mins away on the north shore. Oceanfront horseback riding & polo 1/2 mile south. Beautiful ocean sunsets anywhere along the road 1-3 miles north to the tip if you aren't satisfied with the one out your back door. Plan ahead for groceries: 22 mins to Foodland, but Costco right off H2N is 30 mins away (cheapest gas in Oahu). For those seeking the "real local" experience, with activities that won't be packed with busloads of tourists getting dumped off with you, this is the place to stay to hit those remote stops. We'd stay here again when we're in Oahu, and recommend others stay here."
