  • Love the North Shore!

"Wow! What a wonderful stay! We loved every minute of our vacation with our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter! We have stayed on the North Shore many times, however, this one was so relaxing and comfortable. We didn't want to leave the house, we loved sitting on the back patio and listening to the roar of the ocean, watching the incredible waves come to shore and watching the beautiful sunsets. Our Granddaughter loved to gather up the sand toys (provided at the house) and wait at the back gate for her Mom and Dad to take her to the beach:-) Our daughter and son-in-law loved to get up every morning and walk to the Famous Ted's Bakery for different breakfast treats! We stopped at Costco on our way up, however Foodland is just a short drive away for any missed items. The kitchen was well equipped, with most everything you will need. Tara was very patient and very nice to work with, being a first time VRBO guest I was a little unsure, however Tara said "We would Love it" and we sure did! She also returned our security deposit very promptly. We will definitely be back! Can't wait for another wonderful relaxing vacation. Thanks so Much Tara!"

  • Perfect getaway

"My little family decided to have a staycation on the other side of the island for a few days and found this beach cottage. It is a true gem. It is even more picturesque than described, and is very authentic, quaint-- chabby chic. When we met Minerva and she walked us to the back to show us the view, we were delighted to count 6 sea turtles swimming around directly in front of the cottage! They were there every single day. There are many places to eat around the cottage-- breakfast is just a 3 minute stroll across the street to the Hukilau Cafe. It was easy to get groceries from the local markets and make fresh meals at the cottage-- we even grilled some steak and corn on a breezy evening. It was so relaxing early in the mornings to take a hot mug of freshly brewed coffee and sit on the edge of the yard, legs dangling over into the sand-- watching the Honu swimming gracefully by. The beach itself-- I must have walked the shore three times a day, and hardly met another person out there, which was so lovely and peaceful. Snorkeling right in front of the cottage also was amazingly refreshing, as well. They have a shed full of play things that the children can enjoy, and also body boards for the adults. Minerva was warm, genuine and absolutely lovely. She was always there for questions and concerns, and had many suggestions for local flavors in the area. There is an outdoor shower that has hot water, and proved useful after many excursions in the sand and water. Although there isn't any air conditioning, there was absolutely no need for it, as we had the windows open and doors for a perfect cross breeze-- that was my favorite part of our stay. The fresh ocean breeze. Waking up every morning to the gorgeous ocean view was unbelievably uplifting, and falling asleep to the crashing of tumultuous waves every night was simply mesmerizing. The little cottage is my favorite staycation thus far. Thank you so much, Minerva for creating such a unique and charming, delightful experience. My girls still ask to return to the Magical Honu Cottage."

  • Perfect Getaway, Breathtaking Views

"My family of 10 stayed in the main house as well as the attached studio apartment and it was even better than what we were expecting. The house was very well kept and the kitchen is newly remodeled and included all the appliances we needed. I cannot say enough about the balcony views overlooking the ocean. Unfortunately you cannot access the beach from the backyard but the closest beach is just a short drive away. The common living area had more than enough space to entertain my entire family and other guests that were staying in town. The bedrooms were very cozy and the house also came with a few extra mattresses in case more sleeping space was required. The master bedroom had its own balcony with the best view in the house! A local market (Foodland) was right down the street and was very convenient. It may be helpful to note Laie is owned by the Mormon Church and is a dry town but there are places to buy adult beverages right outside the town. Laie point is a 5 minute walk away with more amazing views that we visited a few times throughout the week. The only issue we came across was that some of the furniture seemed to be on the verge of breaking so we were sure to avoid using it in case it was us that completely broke it (living room lounge chair/balcony chair). House also came with some body boards, and snorkel gear. Laura was very professional, responsive and easy to work with. Overall my family had such an amazing time and I would stay here again and highly recommend this property to any future tenants looking to stay on the north shore. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!"
