  • We loved the beach house - it was everything we had dreamed of!!!

"From the very beginning when we arrived and found a nice welcoming card, drinks and snacks we felt at home. The beach house is awesome and the interior design and decoration matches amazingly what we like and care for.The beautiful surfboard, the paintings, the bed linen in the kids room, the shells - just to mention a few aspects - and the beautiful picture books that introduced us to the different aspects of Hawaii and O'ahu. And once you step out on the porch, sit down in the comfortable lounge, feel the soft air, hear the waves and the rustling of the palm trees, see turquoise water and the blue sky dotted with white clouds beauty in every sense is storming your senses and you just want time to stand still. Having stayed for the whole summer, we can confirm: Ke Iki is the best beach on O'ahu, as the North Shore is -from our point of view- the best place to be. This is where you can still find the Aloha spirit - there are no hotels and guests blend naturally in with locals. Waimea valley with a farmer's market, Waimea bay with the cliff to jump and the spirit of Eddie Aikau as well as Shark's cove for snorkeling are just around the corner. The supermarket is also really close by as are food trucks and our favorite eating place: "Seven Brothers" which is at the Kahuku Sugar Mill a few miles east on the Highway. There was everything at the beach house we needed: a wonderful porch to relax, beach chairs, snorkeling equipment, bikes and even surf boards and last but not least: beautiful water and great waves of the Pacific Ocean at the footsteps of the house with a wide beach to play at or to go for a long walk. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, linen and towels are provided and the children loved their rooms as we did enjoy our master bedroom with a really good mattress. We never used the AC as there is always a nice breeze. Daniel, the property manager, looked very well after us and the only problem we encountered (the insinkinator stopped to work) was solved at once. The house was super clean and is well taken care of. We definitely encountered the Aloha-spirit, learned a lot about the hawaiian history, managed to catch our own waves and our son was a regular at the Banzai skatepark across the street. Our dream came true to spend a special family time on O’ahu and the beach house made a big contribution to this. We are very grateful and can only recommend this place! Thanks again Matt for helping us to have this amazing experience!"

  • Great stay will return if possible

"First time doing a vacation rental, so my wife and I were a little anxious. We were pleasantly surprised. We loved the stay here! We had everything we needed and nice relaxing location to unwind from the stresses of the real world. We came here for our anniversary and loved the peace and quiet. Definitely would stay here again and have already recommended it to everyone that we have talked to. The owners were always quick to respond to our attempts to communicate. We had no problems with the property and was exactly as described. Be prepared for it to rain, but it didn't dampen our experience. Loved the short walk to the beach and being able to walk along the water without tripping over tons of tourists."

  • Charming and Delightful

"Our party of four loved staying at Blue Ginger. First of all Kathy, the owner, was very helpful in addressing all my questions prior to and after our stay. She really does an outstanding job providing all you may need for your stay. We were welcomed by a lovely bowl of fruit (the apple bananas were delish!) and a basket with coffee, tea, chocolates, etc.) The house was clean and kitchen was fully stocked – even included zip lock bags, paper towels, OFF bug spray, and some seasonings. The flower arrangements were gorgeous. The décor was charming and beds comfortable. We did have an occasional gecko that crawled on the walls, and a frog seemed to be sitting at the back door waiting to be invited in, but that just added to the charm of staying in a tropical home. There were plenty of bath and beach towels. She even provided laundry soap to wash our clothes. We enjoyed the BBQ one evening (included all the nec. tools). We left the windows open the entire time to allow the trade winds to flow through the house and it was wonderful. At night we did hear the traffic on the highway, but the sound of the waves crashing was so soothing it lullabied us to sleep. In the morning we could watch the sunrise from the windows in the front living room, but every morning I walked across the street sat on a picnic bench, or a rock on the beach to watch the sunrise. There are lots of crab holes and in the morning and when the sun came up, they would run out to the ocean! The beach gear was helpful to have, especially the rolling cooler, and beach mats. We took one of the Kayaks out across the street. We went snorkeling at Turtle Bay (nice calm waters), the rip currents at Sharks Cove were strong but we got to see a dolphin jumping around, and a beached Monk Seal – she swam right passed us to get back into the ocean. We ate at Uncle Bobo’s, a tiny little BBQ place up the road that was recommended by the owner and it was so good! We also ate at the Shrimp Truck which was a 3 minute walk to Ching’s Store (but I preferred the Shrimp Scampi plate we had a Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck which was about a 20 minute drive along the Hwy). North Shore Tacos was good and open late. The home and the area was quiet, relaxing and beautiful. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to those who are not expecting that high-end resort vacation lifestyle but rather a nice quiet, relaxing tropical home away from home."

  • Felt at home while away !

"We loved the rental location, quiet neighborhood, had morning coffee steps away on the beach, apwnt time watching surfers down the beach, relaxed watching the waves. Kamala and her huaband were very nice, easy to rent from, available for any questions. We would rent from them again if/when we return to Oahu."
