  • Wonderful vacation!

"We rented the whole house for 13 days in 2016. Loved it! Access to beach can't be beat. My grandchildren (12, 10, 17, 2) played in the waves for hours. At high tide we had to be careful with the 2-year-old, but at low tide it was perfect. The house had plenty of room and was well stocked and well maintained. Here are a few improvements/suggestions I would have for the owner/management. The yard was somewhat messy when we arrived and since first impressions can't be redone, a little more care could have been paid to it. There were no screens in two of the windows upstairs and two of the fans didn't work on high (important when there's no air conditioning). This ad lists a small cooler. There isn't one. The trash and recycling bins were both full. Maggots in the trash can! We arrived on the afternoon of trash day, so we had to store trash in the garage for a full week. Found two blowup beds and neither was usable (no pump, holes). Master bedroom TV never would advance past the setup screen (two techies with us had no luck). Wish there was a vacuum for sand. Picking up and returning keys (a 45 min drive) was a hassle. Need a keypad or keybox. Charges a fee to put balance on credit card. In the positive column, futon mattress is thick and I think even an adult would be comfortable on it. When the downstairs needed a new bedside lamp, the management company got one quickly. My daughter bought a baby gate for the top of the stairs and we left it there for others to use. Don't think I would rent the downstairs if strangers were renting upstairs. You can hear every footstep downstairs. Location is great with shopping and attractions close. Had to go to Tamura's Market for liquor. None to be found in Laie (Mormon town). We love North Shore Tacos, Seven Brothers (both of them), Giovanni's, Lulu's (in Honolulu). Spent a day at Kuilima Cove at Turtle Bay. Expensive drinks and food, but good and nice to have access to. Good snorkeling (we snorkeled a lot at the house, too. Bring your own stuff. Equipment at the house is very limited). Went on helicopter rides with Paradise Helicopters at Turtle Bay. Everyone that went thought it was amazing! Rented SUPs from Uncle Bryan's in Haleiwa and paddleboarded with sea turtles. Visited Polynesian Cultural Center. Buffet food lacking but Ha' show wonderful. The ice cream shop in Laie Center has the real Dole Pineapple Whip! Would rent this house again in a heartbeat!"

  • Best location one could ask for!

"This location is excellent! With a rental car, you can get to downtown Honalulu in 25 mins, Turtle Bay in 10 mins, the PCC in 30 mins, and the dole factory in 10 mins. Haleiwa is definitely a cool little town with tons to do. The beach is excellent and the water is great for snorkeling, swimming, or paddle boarding. There are also some great hikes around if you talk to the locals. I did not rate this 5 stars because a few things they could improve in the unit itself. This is the 3rd level of a 3 level condo, meaning that you got the heat from the lower units plus the heat from the sun bearing down on your unit all day. There is no A/C. Our first few days were pleasant (regarding temperature) but the end of the week became really hot. Our unit was pushing 90 degrees, and as the week went on we continually became more sunburned. The unit provides many fans, but it did not solve the problem. We were keeping cold frozen towels on us to just cool down at night, and it was very rough to sleep. The couch in the unit slumps in the middle and is very uncomfortable to sit on for more than 30 minutes. The bed gave me some major back problems, but got better soon after I returned home. The shower heads are 5 feet high. So if you are a tall person, you will find it very difficult to wash your hair. These things are not too big of a deal, as you can live with those small inconveniences for a short period of time. All in all, we loved it! Bitsy was great to work with and was very quick to respond to emails. If they simply put a window AC in the bed room, I would easily rate this place 5 stars. Thank you for our great stay, and if the AC issue was fixed, I would refer everyone I know to this unit. Aloha!"

  • Awesome first time rental!!

"This was the first time for us to take our kids to Hawaii. (We've only been one other time.) We were so excited to share all the wonderful things about Hawaii that we fell in love with during our first visit. I spent hours searching through rental homes in different areas hoping that we would find the perfect home for us. As it turns out, we did! We drove up to the house and received a warm "Aloha" welcome, and as we settled our party of 7 in, it felt like we had come home. The first day there my kids were in the water, enjoying the evening with a couple of turtles that decided to chill by our part of the beach. Every day there were turtles that stopped by! The last evening we were able to do some body surfing, there was a huge turtle that stayed to play in the waves with us. I've never seen a turtle riding the waves before, except in "Finding Nemo" but somehow I don't think that counts. ;) I wish we could have caught that on camera! We had plenty of activities planned for our week and were worried about the drive time to get to them. It wasn't too bad. We could get to anywhere on the island in a reasonable amount of time. Our favorite was the Polynesian Cultural Center, which was only a short drive away. We also enjoyed shopping in old, downtown Hale'iwa and meeting some of the locals. Everyone was super friendly and fun to talk with! I would highly recommend the Honu Hale for anyone looking for a more peaceful and quiet experience, but still right on the beach! Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us!"

  • Perfect in Every Way!

"I have to say that this was the most impressive home and location I have ever been in. All of the rooms except for one had ocean views. There were plenty of fans for each of the 7 couples to feel comfortable. Although we only had 14 in our party, the home could easily accommodate more. Outside of the 7 separate bedrooms we used, there were two larger common areas with a total of 6 beds between them. The kitchen was beautiful, the living area was above anything I expected, and the patios had the most spectacular views of the sunset. Shark's cove is within walking distance and we spent nearly every morning snorkeling that beautiful bay. The beach, although not private, felt in every way that it was. During it's busiest days we only ever shared it with between 15 and 20 people spread out across about a 1/4 mile. Many local eateries and hot-spots very close to the property. As we ate breakfast on the patio each morning we often caught glimpses of the passing dolphin pods. I would recommend this to anyone and plan on staying here again."
