  • Perfect for a family getaway

"We absolutely loved our time at the Kahala Getaway! We rented this house the week after our wedding so that we could spend some quality time with our families. We had 3 generations staying with us! From start to finish we were very happy with our experience. Booking with Betina and her team was a breeze. When we checked in we were taken through the property by the very helpful Raquel who showed us the ins and outs of everything, and it was so nice to walk into the kitchen and see a lovely welcome basket with goodies for everyone to enjoy. The house was great because it is all one story which made it easy for our grandparents. We spent most of our time in the large covered courtyard area which overlooks the pool, the large outdoor dining table was great for meals and catching up. The pool and outdoor bar area were of course in constant use, and the additional fridge space in the outdoor bar on top of the 2 fridges in the kitchen made things a lot easier for us. The beach is a short stroll away, the neighbourhood is nice and quiet. Another thing that was extremely helpful was the trash bins, there are several large trash bins for both normal and recycled trash...I realize it's a weird thing to note but when you have 9 people in one house for a week it comes in handy. Definitely recommend this house for family get togethers, lots of space for everyone and the layout really makes the kitchen and the outdoor dining area perfect for entertaining. Also super close to town and freeway access, stores and shopping mall was only a 5 minute drive."

  • Absolutely Recommended

"As one of our travelling companions put it, "I'd be content staying here and not going sightseeing." Of course, it is Hawaii so... No complaints whatsoever with the house, grounds and amenities. Very well maintained, clean, functional, luxurious. Location is definitely in a residential area but after being there for a few hours, the pool, waterfall and overall décor proved that one doesn't need to be ocean-front to experience tranquility and a feeling of being in paradise. Within walking distance of a decent beach, great area for joggers and within hiking distance to Diamond Head. Grocery stores and a mall within a quick drive. Once you get your bearings, getting out and about (Waikiki, windward side, north shore) easily achieved with great access to major roads. Should highlight that one of the walk-in showers was a godsend to the octogenarian with us - that allowed her to enjoy the luxuriously done shower and not be as concerned about slipping and such. I could go on...I'd be remiss in saying, anyone coming from San Francisco, please bring Tom some sour dough bread. Even without the bread, he made sure we knew how to work the waterfalls, pool lights, house lights and answered all of our questions. Yvonne also provided great communication and support thru the pre- and post-rental logistics. Can't imagine anyone ever regretting renting this house."

  • Beautiful neighborhood!

"My husband and I stayed at the property and it was very nice. The owners couldn't be more accommodating and pleasant. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed ourselves in and around the area. My daughter who lives in Honolulu would visit us at night and the owners were welcoming to her small dog during the visits. This is an example of 'accommodating' the owners graciously extended to us. The unit is clean and very comfortable. My only suggestion to the owners is to put some type of table - coffee table or something - in the unit. However, as you can tell if this is the only recommendation I can make, it is fabulous 'as is' as well. I want to thank John and Ann for being such gracious hosts. Good luck to the family with their new store as well!"

  • This place is amazing!

"We visited Hawaii the first week of October for 10 days and stayed at this vacation rental. There were 5 adults and 2 children and the house was perfectly suited for us. We had tons of extra room. Our little girl is one years old and very high maintenance, luckily the owner had a fence to put up around the pool to keep her safe. The house had everything that we needed and many extras that we were not expecting, which was a bonus. The rooms had their own private bathrooms and air conditioning. The house had bi-folding walls that opened up and many fans over head to create nice air flow when the air conditioning wasn't being used. The house was all one level, without stairs (which was ideal for our young one). The location was amazing. We walked to the beach only 2 blocks away, it was very private and beautiful. The rental was less than 10 minutes to Waikiki and Hanauma Bay and around 15 minutes to one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu, Kailua Beach (a must see). The grocery stores and shopping were minutes away and within walking distance. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. The house had a large park (no playground) across the street. There were many playgrounds within walking distance. Our children loved it! The owner was very nice and prompt at responding when we had questions etc. Our time there was amazing. We will definitely stay there again in the future."
