  • Fun, Slightly Quirky Place with a Fantastic Location

"We stayed at Liz Taylor's (as we came to call it) over Christmas for two weeks in 2014 (disregard above date). Our two kids, age 8 and 9.5, and my parents joined us and we had such a great time. As other mention, there are some quirks and in a lot of ways you can see the house is set up for catering type situations (weddings in particular) - example: a really big kitchen without as much cabinet space as you would expect. But we found places for everything and had more than most would due to the length of our stay. The open floor plan is great. Indoor pool was awesome for the kiddos. But the real kicker is the ocean front - the view is great, the little beach is nice, and the bay is shallow for a long way out - I could go out a couple of hundred yards and be only waist deep (at low tide, you could go further). Our kids are both strong swimmers, but we traveled to go out and get in some surf. We would take the lounge chairs down and sit in the water and read - that calm and nice. Nice enough access into the heart of Honolulu, but also nice to be out of the area. We spent a lot of time over on the Windward side and this is a quick jump around the point. As others have said, Albert was great and the team was always very responsive to any questions we had. A great option to consider versus hotels in Honolulu proper, especially if you have more than 4 people. Highly recommnded! And say hi to the ducks for us ..."

  • Great Christmas Vacation

"The house was so amazing. Had pretty much everything we needed, age range of travelers from 28-78. All rooms were excellent, master bedroom/bathroom with lanai was incredible. 3 full shower/bathrooms in the house (+1 outdoor shower) so never any issue finding a bathroom or a shower. The 3 kayaks were great, definitely recommend making a trip out to the blue hole for some snorkeling...we saw 4 or 5 turtles there and just as many fish as you can see at Hanauma Bay without the crowds or the lines. The pool was great as is the kitchen and patio area. We ate a majority of our meals at the house but it is a relatively short drive into Waikiki for some more action, or to the excellent restaurants at the Kahala. Grocery stores just a few minutes away. Beach out in front of the house is not fabulous, water is very shallow with lots of rock and coral until you reach the surf (which is a long way out there). But we spent all of time up at the pool when we weren't in the kayaks or snorkeling, so it was no problem for us."

  • In town for a family wedding

"Our group of 16 (3 generations aged 1-76; from 2 countries/2 states/5 cities) congregated for a local relative's wedding in Waikiki. This home was a perfect fit for us; we felt welcomed the minute we walked into the home, it is very convenient to a lot of amenities, and a quick drive to points of interest like Koko Head, and Hanauma Bay. The home has a lot of communal space yet enough privacy when we needed it. We ate most of our meals in the home and even had some other relatives (both local and staying at other rentals) come over for a large family dinner and we didn't feel cramped. The pool was great too! The driveway had enough space to comfortably park our rental and there is lots of street parking. We made good use of both fridges but only cooked in the downstairs kitchen. We only used the indoor washer and dryer and we had them going a lot. The barbecue got a lot of use too. We all enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Mahalo to Cynthia and Rick for making our trip so enjoyable!"

  • Vacation Away from NYC

"Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The place was beautiful. The flow was really nice and the space was very free and open. For a rental, it was pretty good. We felt happy and relaxed while we were there. However, the dish washer was not working. It turned on and you can hear water going through the dishes but it did not wash ANYTHING at all. We had to wash everything by hand. By second day, we bought paper plates and cups. The place also looks rather dated (but not a big factor, unless you're very particular). However, if I was the owner, I would probably update some stuff. We had one incident -- which was very unnerving. By seventh day into the stay, someone broke into the house while we were home. It was around 10:30pm, my kids were asleep (in the master bedroom with me). I was awake and sitting up in bed with the lights on. Most of the indoor lights were still on. My husband was at the gym (not home). Someone had gone through the sliding door (which was closed but not locked yet. We were still awake after all) from the beach and into the property and came into the master bedroom (WHILE I WAS THERE! AWAKE!). He was a very brazen thief! He ran away when I saw him and the cops didn't find him. All this to say: we were pretty shaken and angered that the motion lights outside (all over the house; front and back) were not working. I would have definitely noticed if the lights outside went on when he was there or it would have hindered him from coming in if the lights turned on. Apparently, he had come from another house. He had stolen an SLR camera from another rental nearby (and he left it on the backyard). All this to say: be forewarned. It's a nice place but petty theft is rampant in the area. Lock the doors EVEN when you're home and make sure all the lights work. And for the property management: might be best to put cameras in the area (pointing out -- not inside) so you can see if someone does break in again. I would."
