"Exactly as described. Everything you would need is there. The only things missing are a chef, a butler and a maid. Gerard was very prompt answering any questions we had. We would recommend this 21st floor unit to anyone. Location is great. A short stroll to Kuhio Beach, also shopping and restaurants are all within walking distance."

  • Fantastic Views, Congenial Agents

"Our original Airbnb booking fell through when the condo was flooded by a guest the day before we arrived, so we had to scramble to find alternative accommodations after we arrived. To make a long story short, the final 5 nights of our stay were uncovered, but we found this Island Colony studio on VRBO that happened to be open, and it proved to be the icing on the cake for our stay in wonderful Hawaii. Kai Ching was as nice and personable as you could ever want in an agent. We had trouble with the Internet connection the day we arrived, so I called Kai, who contacted the provider, whom I later contacted. Nothing seemed to work, but we went out and when we got back all was well and we didn't have any more trouble with it. Kai offered to refund the entire $5/day fee, but I didn't feel right taking it all back, so we compromised on a 1-day refund. The minimum stay is 3 days--we stayed 5--and the daily rate was fairly low compared to other condos we checked. Island Colony is centrally located just one block from buses on Kuhio and 2 blocks from the main attractions on Kalakaua. Walk straight up Seaside 2 blocks to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center for free hula, ukulele, lomi lomi, lei making, and other classes. The new Nordstrom Rack has great bargains one block away on Kuhio and is beside the rear entrance to the newly refurbished International Marketplace (now very upscale compared to before). Access to Waikiki Beach is also very good. The closest supermarket is Food Pantry 2-3 blocks up Kuhio, and there are many restaurants within walking distance. Island Colony itself has a nice pool with jacuzzi and a convenience store. The condo was roomy, clean, and well equipped (kitchenette, bath, etc.). The lanai (balcony) is as large as a small room, with a see-through partition at the edge making the 3-way view (Ala Wai Canal, golf course, and mountain plus Diamond Head plus ocean) even better. We enjoyed breakfast and several dinners on the lanai. The bed was advertised as queen, but it wasn't as big as our queen at home, so I think it was just a double. But it was quite comfortable. No laundry in the condo, but on the 6th floor you can buy a laundry card for $5 and then put increments of $5 on it. Somewhat annoyingly, one load with the dryer is $2.75, so you have to add $5 more to do a second load! Nevertheless, despite these minor annoyances, this condo was quite a find, and I would highly recommend it to anyone."

  • Fairway Villas Review

"We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed staying at the property. The place is perfectly located and having parking is a BIG PLUS. Although we never met the owner (Mario), the caretaker was a very pleasant person and very helpful. The only thing which I think could use improvement is the fact that the "pull down" is rather noisy. The mattress is very comfortable. However, the frame (box spring) where the mattress rests creates quite a bit of noise when a person moves (specially on the side close to the closet where the bed is stored away). The air conditioned is a little bit on the noisy side but, most of your window type a/c are rather noisy. Overall, I would definitely rent from this owner again."

  • Picture accurately portray the Condo. Owner was great to deal with.

"The front lobby is being renovated and the main doors were locked and you could not enter with or without a key fob (May 2016). There is no "greeter" or personnel who work in the lobby or anywhere else you can check in with. It is up to you to find the key for your condo so follow the directions given by the owner. In the parking garage is all the old items they are pulling out of condos so there is plenty of parking and lots of old stoves, sofas, etc. Security for the building seemed fine. You needed a key fob to use the elevator and to get into the building. The one way around that is to simply walk in the outbound side of the parking garage as it is wide open. So don't let the "secure" garage fool you and leave your vehicle open. Our condo was supplied fine and fairly clean. We realized their cleaning service did not bother to clean under the bed or dressers and I found a lot of left behind items and sand under there when I looked. This was brought to the owners attention and will be taken care of next time. The views to the North East were fine and of the mountains and golf course. To the direct East and the South East it was a view of other buildings. My biggest complaint would be the daily garbage truck at 6am. The condos windows and walls do not block out many sounds and we were woken up each morning by the garbage trucks engine, beeper, picking up and dropping the garbage bins from the building across from us. The fire department is also just up the road and every few hours there would be an ambulance or fire truck running with its lights and sirens going down the street next to the condo. Unit had fully functional kitchen and washer and dryer which was nice. I did notice the dryer vented directly back into the bathroom so the temperature rose in the entire condo and especially the bathroom quite a bit when you did a load of laundry. If you are not used to how muggy Hawaii is it may take a while and unfortunately you do not get a reprieve when you come back to your condo until the sun goes down and a cool wind (hopefully) can blow in the patio doors. If you leave the AC on in the bedroom with the bedroom closed up it will not be as bad, but the directions state not to leave AC on. We found we liked Maui a lot better as it more laid back and A LOT less crowded so take that into account when looking at which island to go to, but if you go to Oahu this condo would be a good one to stay at if you don't stay at a Resort."
