  • Perfect!

"Although we have been to Waikiki many times and are familiar with the neighbourhood, this was our first time staying in a VRBO and we were unsure what to expect. Any concerns were put to rest immediately once we arrived in room 624. We couldn't believe we found such a beautiful place to stay for our vacation. The Ilikai Hotel is stunning and perfectly situated for our needs. It was a pleasure to have a short walk to the beach without the need to cross any roads. Although situated at the quieter end of Waikiki, there is no shortage of great restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The room was updated, clean and attractively furnished - just like in the photos. We did not make use of the kitchen (it is my vacation after all :) ), but it appeared to be well stocked. The lani has a beautiful view and is comfortably furnished. The only thing I could say that was less than perfect was that the bed was too firm for my preference; however, it would not stop me from happily choosing to stay in this lovely unit again in the future. I look forward to another visit another year."

  • Best place in Waikiki

"We believe it's hard to find a better location / place in Waikiki. Very clean, comfortable, well equipped (washer&dryer inside of condo!) and the best location. 1 block to newly opened International Market Place, very short walk to the beach, great restaurants & Cafe everywhere. We hardly used kitchen this time as the choice of foods/restaurants were great! Elina was very helpful and accommodating of the requests we had. Very easy deal with. We couldn't ask for a better experience to stay at this condo."

  • Clean, handy for everything.

"Booked a week in Waikiki and this was a good deal. Condo was clean and well equipped. Everything worked good. Steven was easy to deal with and Buddi, the local manager, was easy to reach to answer a couple of questions we had. A block to the beach and short walks to most of the good spots to eat and drink. Didn't use the pool or facilities but they looked great and were well used by other guests. The Aston Banyan is an older building and despite some recent renovations (based on previous reviews) it still shows its age. Our unit was clean and well presented. Hallway carpet, doors and paint outside the unit look dated but we didn't spend much time looking at that. Plenty of pillows and blankets and I slept soundly in the bed. Sleeping situation on the sofa bed is another issue purely because there has yet to be sofa bed made that is not creaky and wobbly. As our kids were tired at the end of the day they seem to sleep well. The A/C worked well to cool the place off in the evening for bedtime. It does leave a pool of water on the lanai but it's not a big deal. The fixtures in the bathroom could use a refresher and update. Other than that the place was ideal. One point to make, and Steven was clear about this in our communications with him, this is not part of the Aston resort and you cannot get any service at all from the front desk or staff. We politely enquired about renting a rollaway bed (our kids weren't too excited about sharing the sofa bed at first) and the reaction from the front desk chick was, "Ugh, not from us", and that was the end of it. They seemed quite aloof and reminded me of employees at high end retail chains who think they're something special when they actually just have a job at the mall and make minimum wage. Doesn't take much to be polite but the impression I got was that guests of private owners are held in low regard and they go out of the way to let you know not to expect anything from them.. The convenience store in the lobby is a rip off and charges a high premium for that convenience ($5/gal water). We used it when we ran out of milk or needed some after sun cream but other than that there's an ABC store on about every block (some blocks have 2). Locals told us ABC stands for 'All Blocks Covered'. They had everything we needed and there are supermarkets within a 10 minute walk or you can ride the trolley for $2. All in all a great place to stay. If the bathroom was updated I'd have given it another star."

  • Couldn't have asked for more

"So pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Marine Surf apartment, it had everything we needed. A beautiful view from the 21st storey, sitting on the lanai enjoying a glass of wine made it so relaxing. Within easy reach to everything, right in the heart of shopping, eateries, and Waikiki beach. We checked out heaps of places and were not disappointed with Marine Surf. The extra items in the apartment beach towels, beach mat, umbrella, snorkel, fully equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed, wi fi, CD's, air con made for a very comfortable stay. We made use of the car park as we hired a car for a few days. Our correspondence with Rob was very easy - we knew exactly what to do upon arrival. Star Taxi service picked us up, had the keys for us and dropped us right off at the front door. The fact we arrived at 10pm did not present a problem at all. A memorable holiday, staying in a great location with excellent facilities."
