"I am sorely tempted to not review this little gem of a perfectly located, adorable, comfortable studio apartment because we want to stay there when we return to Waikiki and it books up very quickly with new and returning guests.
The location at the east end of Waikiki is perfect, close enough to walk to the hubbub, but far enough from the congestion and the crowds. The building is a ten story high rise called the Waikiki Grand Hotel. The desk staff is friendly, the building is clean and Daniel's apartment is in a quiet location on the fourth floor. The unit is not on the beach view side, but that is okay -- it feels like a tree house, because at four floors up, you look out onto the leaves and branches of a huge tropical tree. There is a solid wall of windows that you can open and let the tropical breeze in. There is a galley kitchen that is fully stocked with dishes, coffee maker, etc. The bathroom is roomy with shower/tub combo. Daniel supplies plenty of towels, high thread count cotton sheets, etc. There are beach towels and beach chairs supplied for your convenience. Daniel has decorated the place in a clean, modern style with interesting artwork on the walls (always a plus for us). The unit is very clean, with none of the usual tropical schmutz you often find in Hawaiian rentals -- always a plus!
The laundry room is in the basement. The machines are new and the cost is minimal. Our laundry was done in under an hour. The laundry room is secure, so you don't have to sit there and watch the machines spin - you can go back upstairs and watch the big screen TV (with cable) in the studio.
We stayed four nights and for half of that we had a rental car. You can reserve a parking place in the basement through the front desk, the cost is not high for a full 24 hours (I think from Saturday till Monday it cost 33$ total).
Daniel is concerned for his guests' comfort AND he returned our damage deposit in full before our flight home touched down at LAX.
We love Honolulu and we'd stayed at a $350+ per night hotel there in the past. Daniel's studio is just as nice as those hotels, it is located in a sweet, convenient spot (oh, there is a Starbucks a block away; an abc store downstairs, everything you might want is a very short stroll away.) We look forward to staying in the studio again!"
