  • Simply Amazing Vacation Spot

"My niece and I traveled to Oahu for her 30th birthday. After much deliberation, we chose Pam's condo in Makaha. It could not have been a more excellent choice. Pam was wonderful to deal with, replying promptly to my various questions and giving us so much wonderful information about the condo and the area. The condo is even more beautiful than the pictures show, and that lanai...I have no adequate description for the view from it. We spent HOURS out there- watching the waves, the surfers, the turtles, the spouting humpback whales, the boats, the morning sunbeams playing on the turquoise waves as it rose over the condo, and the stunning display it created as it dropped down into the ocean in the evening. It was lovely to fall asleep to and wake up to the sound of the crashing waves. We both enjoy cooking, so we had stopped for groceries on our way from Honolulu to Makaha (we rented a car). We were very happy with the various cooking and dining supplies Pam has used to stock the kitchen, and were able to enjoy our own meals on the lanai. The view makes good food even more delicious! :) We even used the lovely gas grill down in the common area one night. The bed in the condo was very comfortable, and the shower is amazing. The condo is tiny, but the layout, the mirrors and windows and doors, and Pam's bright mermaid theme all work together to create a bright, breezy feel. I appreciated the security of knowing that our rental car was safe inside a locked gate, and that the condo had limited access. Also, even with as large as the Cabanas is, I heard practically no noise from neighbors above, below, or an either side. Everyone was so helpful and respectful of others. The beach in front of the condo would collect a few people as the day progressed, but compared to the crowded eastern shore beaches we typically visit, this one felt like we had the place all to ourselves! The waves here are larger than we're used to, but the Ko'olina lagoons are not far; we went swimming there one afternoon. However, those large waves were an attraction that took us to the North Shore several times, just to watch the surfers. Traffic can be awful, but we were aware of that when we chose this location. We went on several day trips, but spent most of our time at the condo or the local attractions like Ka'ena Point, where we saw albatross, seals, and lots of whales. Our stay here was nothing short of amazing, and we both have so many lovely memories. Thank you, Pam!!"

  • Cute property, perfect location and with all amenities of "home"

"I personally didn't get to see or talk to the owners much while we were there, but the house was perfect for what we needed! We were there getting married on Kalama Beach, which was just a short walk from the house. The town of Kailua had grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies, etc and even a Target store, all within a 2 minute drive of the house. The house reminded me of a cottage, but it was perfect for our family of 4. There was even enough space for someone to come and do my hair and makeup the morning of the wedding. The kitchen was stocked with general necessities, and the bbq outside was a nice feature. We were able to go to FoodLand to purchase the makings to prepare a portion of our meals at the house, instead of having to eat out for every meal for the week. There were shampoos, conditioners, body wash and other toiletries available for use, as well as plenty of towels, wash cloths, and linens. There was even a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board available to use, which was helpful! If we ever make it back to Oahu again, I will definitely try to stay at this location again. My only complaint was that when we arrived there, some glass had been broken in the kitchen, and only partially cleaned up. We kept finding little shards of glass with our feet (due to the no shoes in the house rule) and it wasn't until a couple of days after we arrived that we found the broom and dust pan to finish cleaning up the glass ourselves. All in all, the trip was amazing, the house is perfect, and has the most ideal location on the island, in my opinion. Thank you again, Sue and Ron, for allowing us to stay in your home, and for allowing us to mail packages to your home prior to our arrival and for holding them for us until we arrived. I highly recommend this house to anyone coming to the island, especially if you are traveling with children."

  • Beautiful vista of Honolulu/visiting relatives

"Loved our accommodations. We stayed in the lower level apt which is under the main floor. This Unit, Paradise II has a full kitchen with utensils, stove, microwave, toaster oven and regular sized refrigerator. Just out the front door was a lanai with a beautiful view of Honolulu from Diamond Head to past Punchbowl National Cemetery. There were many extras we did not expect such as water and local juices in the refrigerator already there for us to use. There were many extra towels and bath products available. Since we were the only tenants when we checked in, we were given a tour of the whole house and the other units for rent. The top floor, the Presidential Suite had the most outstanding unobstructed view of the city below. Since the owners lived there on the main floor, there was no problem with noise above us. We would definitely stay here again. The only problem we had was with the AC that quit on us. We were, however, generously partly refunded for the two nights of no AC. The part to repair the unit was not immediately available. Mr Chen is a great host."

  • So Relaxing!

"Enjoyed our stay at Maili Cove; just what we were looking for. You can go for more lux accomodations or stay downtown, but I doubt you'll find a place where you can walk out to a pool to yourself and a beautiful beach. Not much in nightlife or expensive restaurants but we lived like locals and bought groceries. We ate breakfast and dinner on the lanai almost every day. Gorgeous sunsets!"
