  • Our place of joy!

"This was our second stay at the Beach Villas and our first stay in this unit. We had an amazing time once again!! The Beach Villas are conveniently located at Lagoon #2 which is a perfect place for the whole family to safely enjoy the beach...our newly turned six-year-old even taught himself how to snorkel on this trip! We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful pools and hot tubs at the Villas as well, they are great for all ages. The path along the lagoons is the most picturesque place for morning or evening strolls and runs. We enjoyed dinners at nextdoor Longboards, Monkeypod, and Roy's, and shopped at nearby at Costco and Target in Kapolei to prepare other meals. We also took advantage of stand-up paddleboard rentals at Aulani. This particular unit is beautifully furnished, decorated, maintained, and is conveniently located near the elevators. The master bed was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever found at a hotel or vacation rental and I slept better than I ever do away from home! The beach equipment (beach towels, chair, wagon, coolers, sand toys, snorkel gear, etc) and pack N play supplied by the owners were a huge convenience for our family. And the lanai was the most wonderful place for us to enjoy our meals with stunning views (I also practiced yoga on the lanai, it is very spacious). Ko'olina will always hold such a special place in our hearts and we cannot wait to come back and stay at this unit again!"

  • Classic holiday home

"For the traveler who prefers to be in amongst the locals, away from the retail madness, and is happy in comfortable family style accommodation. We loved the location, loved the fact that this house was fully equipped with everything we have at home. The West side definitely has better drier weather. Also loved the fact it wasn't too fancy and we could feel totally relaxed. All the beach toys were a big plus - they even have beach shoes in all sizes! Suggest guests understand the location, the local attractions, are not bar hoppers or restaurant goers and if planning to be in the water have an understanding and respect of the sea. Tom let us have a later check out so we were able to clean up without the stress of a time frame. It's one of those places where you visit once and then just become a regular guest. Love it!!"

  • Comfortable, private, and away from the busy tourist activity.

"We went here in part for our was a wonderful and relaxing stay! From the lanai overlooking the beach, we saw dolphins, surfers, and snorkelers enjoying the water. We met some wonderful residents poolside, and enjoyed feeling like we were locals instead of harried tourists. The sunsets were spectacular, and at night the stars and moon were bright and sparkly. A few times, we saw bioluminescent squid in the waves breaking on the beach at night...unexpected and intriguing! We were close to hiking trails, and snorkeling was perfect from the State Park beach next to us...which was never crowded. We saw many types of fish and some turtles lazily swimming beneath us. The breeze flowed through from 3 sides of the unit, and kept us pretty comfortable. The sound of the surf was all around...sort of "white-noise". We traveled all over the island, did some hiking and exploring, and it always was nice to come "home". In nearby Waianai, there were stores to meet grocery and personal needs, and some nice restaurants too. We liked Cochitas...a Columbian/Puerto Rican restaurant recommended by residents. But we usually bought local foods to prepare ourselves. "Big-Time" shopping is available also, about 30 minutes away...and also the intersection to go to the North Shore. We got souvenirs at the "Swap Meet" at Aloha Stadium (Halewa Stadium on the signs). The unit was clean and bright, and the bed was a comfortable memory foam type. We used our Netflix and Amazon accounts on the TVs, and watched the Seahawks!! Everything we needed was supplied in the way of cookware and beach supplies (towels, chair, umbrella)...hairdryer, and a coin-op laundry. The beach was easy to access, and we felt like we had plenty of privacy as we sat on the lanai to eat, read, or star gaze. The owners were great to work with, and the staff attending the property were nice folks...and nice to visit with. Traffic is slow...but you're on vacation, so just give yourself time to go at a sea-turtle's pace. We liked hiking up to Manoa Falls (above Waikiki) and Makapu'u Point lighthouse on the northeast of the island. We also drove almost all of the cross-mauka roads and along the perimeter of the island...gorgeous!! There is a lot of history at Pearl Harbor, and many old gun placements and lookouts from the 1940s and 1950s all over. We liked the local farmers' markets...the fruit is fantastic, and the avocados are the size of softballs! Come enjoy Makaha!"
