  • WOW!

"The Kamaole Sands was a beautiful and clean property. The amenities were many and of good quality.. After staying at other condos we can appreciate the extras that others don't have. Here is our list of things that made our stay wonderful: well stocked kitchen, good quality appliances, multiple hangers for drying (sounds silly, trust me was appreciated!), ground floor access made coming home from the beach/store easier for all, VERY close to the bbq area, quick response from the owner on any little question, ample beach necessities, grounds of the Kamaole Sands were beautiful and lots of room for our kids to run around (not the case for many properties in Kihei), 5 minutes from the best beach on the strip, nice size pool (is better than the pictures!). As I said we have stayed at many condos and you can tell the owners take pride in their place and have decorated/stocked their place with quality items. My husband and I are planning to come back as soon as we can!!!"

  • Perfect experience all the way around, and only one problem ....

"The problem? You need to make sure you book excursions and outings well in advance of your arrival or you will NEVER LEAVE THIS HOUSE. It's comfortable, spacious, well furnished, thoroughly updated ... you feel like you're in Kauai back in the 30's when sugar was king, but still have all the amenities of the 21st century. When you book a year in advance there's a lot of time to worry about details. But by the time our family and an aunt arrived all the worries fell away one by one: * Isn't it a long way away from Lihue and the north shore attractions? Yes, but the island is small enough that we could make several excursions to the north and east sides and come back with plenty of time for swimming and reading at the house. * No A/C? Yes, but the front doors open to the ocean breeze and every room and lanai has one or two huge Hunter fans. It was breezy and cool every day and I had to use a blanket at night. On the day of our arrival it was humid and still, but very day afterwards we had perfect sea breezes. * Right by a highway? Yes, but with the surf running all day and night you hardly notice. You're also pretty close to the end of the road, so traffic is limited enough that we never waited more than 5 seconds before crossing over to the beach. * Can you even see the sun set into the ocean with Niihau in the way? Nope, not in July ... but the colors are so incredible and the surf so harmonious it doesn't matter. We thought about driving around to Polihale for a better view, but every night's sunset from the upper veranda or down on the rocks was perfect. * Doesn't it rain a lot in Kauai? Yes -- 450 inches a year on Mt Waialeale just a few miles away. But down in Kekaha we barely had two small showers in 11 days, and perfect weather all other times. In short, everything I worried about came to nothing. The kids had a blast naming all the geckos (Two-Tail Timmy was a favorite), my 70+ year old Aunt had no problem navigating the broad stairs and getting in our out of the pool. There was room for all of us to be together, claim a quiet hammock, or do "coffee and guitar" on a veranda. Highly recommend Sunrise Helicopter tour, Na Pali coast our with Capt Andy, a kayak/hike up the Wailea river to Secret Falls, & Koloa Zipline was an awesome experience. All made better by the fact we'd be coming back to this gracious house when done. We looked at a lot of Kauai houses: so glad we picked this one."

  • Great Location, Nice Condo

"This 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom place is great for 2 couples! The layout is spacious and the outdoor space is great! The condo complex is my fav place to stay in Maui. Close to all the action, but also far enough away to make it private and Very Quiet. 4 stars, not 5 as the AC system was not able to keep the place cool (we happened to be in Maui on a few of the hottest days (90*+) of the year with NO trade winds). That and the washer/dryer took 3-5hrs to do a load of laundry. The Kitchen is well set-up (knifes could use a sharpening) and the outdoor Webber BBQ was great to have (but getting a little old). Tommy Bahamas chairs (x4) for the beach are great, and you should enjoy the beach its only a 1min walk and has some of the islands best snorkeling! Cleaning staff and Ali'i resort staff are very nice and easy to contact if issues arise. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did. Mahalo"

  • Excellent base for Puna (Pahoa), Volcano, Hilo and snorkling!

"Good, out-of-the-way place, more a neighborhood than a tourist spot. 20 minutes to Kapoho Tide Pools and 30 minutes to Onekahakaha. Generally quiet, sounds of the waves lovely at night, dogs are fine, but one of the neighbors does like to throw the occasional loud party. Be sure to check out Pahoa Fresh Fish and Boogie Woogie Pizza if you are hungry, Just Crusin' for the best coffee, Kadota's Liquor for awesome boutique beers and Hilo Bay Books for lots of great used books!"
