  • Lovely host, great place

"The location of this little basement apartment is amazing--across the street from the huge lakefront park, a half block to the water. Yet it is quiet, with sufficient parking and great amenities. Access is through the host's dining room but she is quite discreet and makes it as private as possible. Karen went out of her way to make it feel like a special visit--she clearly loves her town and we do too. It was a lovely retreat and the only downside was not being able to spend more time there."

  • Comfortable, convienent and Clean

"The homeowners were very welcoming and accommodating. They allowed us to store our kayaks and bike in garage below apartment. It was convenient as you just used a code to open door to apartment and garage. It was quiet and secluded but still close enough to town. Apartment is well appointed with modern finishes, cute decor and a comfy bed. It was nice to have access just across the road to their private dock. Also the centennial bike trail is right there too so it's convenient to walk out the door and go for a bike ride or walk right along the lake. Beautiful view through mature trees on property that provide nice shade. Only thing that could have been better was the weather, but that is out of everyone's control."

  • Great Family Vacation Home

"Our 3 generation family just completed our vacation at the DOCTOR's Inn. This home is very clean, very spacious and extremely well-located to everything we enjoy doing. Everything you need is provided. There was plenty of space for everyone including a basement bedroom and bathroom, perfect for a teenager. The laundry facilities were wonderful and very helpful when traveling with young children or flying in from a long distance and you need to travel light. The grandchildren loved the beautiful parks and beach, all within a very short walk from the home. The young adults could walk to the pier for parasailing and boating and we all enjoyed walking to the downtown area for the great restaurants and the occasional ice cream cone or snow one. Though the home is older, it is maintained, including air-conditioning, and the owners are generous with what they provide for your use. The price is right for the space, parking and location provided. We look forward to returning!"

  • Fun Cabin Stay

"The view of Hayden Lake and the boats and deck linked to the cabin made fishing and exploring the water the highlight of our stay. The large deck and dining set on the deck made sitting and dining outside pleasurable. The water was a little weedy and murky for swimming, and the shoreline immediate to the cabin and deck was more dirt than sand, although the kids next door didn't seem to mind playing in the water off the deck. We were four adults and one dog. The road circling the lake is pretty narrow and traffic is fairly heavy, so while many people were out running or biking, walking the dog on the paved road required alertness. I was surprised, having visited the CDA area many years ago, how developed and urbanized the area has become. The area offers a great tourist attraction and a fun place to play on the water, but it would be difficult for anyone looking for an isolated beach or picnic area to find one unless one had a cabin or boat of his or her own. The main room of the cabin is comfortable and attractive, and overall cleanliness was pretty good. The kitchen is very dated, and the "cabin" description adequately describes the overall ambiance of the house itself. The cabin obviously had some water damage in the past, like lots of older waterfront cabins, and while there have been attempts to renovate the cabin, the interior still smells pretty musty. The cabin was well stocked with clean towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies, including a vacuum and a nice outdoor grill on the deck. The cabin has a stereo and speakers and a TV. The one bathroom is small but decent and clean, and a washer and dryer, with detergent and dryer sheets were also available. There was no sign of mice. I'm kind of a clean freak, so a newer or more spic and span kitchen would have been preferable. So while it would have been nice to afford a nicer house with a nicer kitchen, as we mainly spent out three day weekend at the cabin itself and did our own cooking, we booked late and this rental was available. We had no problems with contact from the owners or obtaining directions and key instructions. We paid about $1200 for three nights, which seemed reasonable, given that two hotel rooms, while they may have been more modern, wouldn't have provided a beautiful view, a deck, access to the lake, and a row boat and pedal boat. Everyone living or staying near the cabin was very friendly as well."
