  • Great place for family gatherings year round!

"We enjoyed our Thanksgiving family gathering in this sunny woodsy setting. The two living areas offered space for the adults and kids to have activities that didn't conflict with one another, yet not too separated. The provided games, videos, and outdoor area were plentiful and fully used. The house sets just across the road from Farragut State Park boundary with man-gates available to access. We found a walkable trail along the fence line as well as a hill to use sleds. The electric wall heat and wood burning stove kept the house cozy and warm while the outdoor temperature was in the teens. All 11 of us enjoyed having our own comfortable beds to sleep in. Having the bathrooms the downstairs could be a problem for some since there is only one bedroom and futon on the main floor. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of table service, plates, glasses, small appliances and cookware. The family is already talking about a return trip in the summer. The owner was very good with communication and helpful instruction. He put in many hours making the property ready for us since there were trees down from a storm and the electricity had been out for several days just before we arrived. Thank you Kimm!"

  • Family time every year

"This is our favorite house to stay in at Schweitzer, and we will continue to stay every year. It's large enough for our big family, fairly descent mountain access, with fantastic skiing at Schweitzer. Manager's do a great job with cleaning and maintenance. The number of bedrooms and floor plan is great. The hot tub, steam shower, and sauna are great after a day on the hill."

  • Another amazing stay!

"We just arrived home from our second stay at the Gerends lake cabin on Hayden Lake. And once again...too wonderful for words. We spent many hours just lounging on the huge wrap around deck, barbecuing, entertaining friends, and soaking in the truly incredible lake view spread out in front of us. In fact, before we left, we both just stood on the deck, silent, I know both thinking the same thing: "I don't want to forget this view." It's a truly rejuvenating spot, and you just can't visit without feeling wonderful. There are even MORE water toys than our last visit, which I didn't think was possible! We both used the SUP boards, the canoe, the Seacycle, the paddle boat, and misc. other items that were available. I don't think we could have worked our way through all of the water toys in a week's time! They have a wonderful little sandy beach cove, with stairs to access it, and we loved throwing floaties for our dog from there. There's also a huge rock to jump from, and just so many great things to do, including hiking up behind the cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits with Jeanne, the onsite manager. She is wonderful! She checked in on occasion to make sure we had everything we needed, which was so nice. The home is so well stocked, it's almost unbelievable. Right down to clips to hold on the outdoor tablecloth! My husband asked if I brought those. I said "Nope! The Gerends have thought of everything!" The home is clean, comfortable, and has everything you will need for your stay. Should you need to run into town, it's less than 20 minutes away. This cabin is wonderful! We can't recommend it highly enough. We look forward to our next visit!"

  • Good size house for our family!!!

"This house is tucked away a bit in the hills, but still close to town. Fletcher is great to work with, as he helped with every need or issue we had. There were noticeable cobwebs hanging and I took a broom and took care of it, but I did tell Fletcher so he could bring it up to the cleaners.. The view on the over sized porch is great!! While there, my husband took a little nature walk on the trail that is there.. In the evening, there were thunder storms, but nothing big at all and It was nice as the house sits upon a hill and we could see it. I think the only thing I would suggest is an SUV is needed. Once you get off the dirt road it turns into a rocky driveway.. But don't let that scare you at all, as most of the roads there are dirt ones.. Thanks Fletcher, we had a great time.."
