  • Wonderful Time! Comfy & Quite place to stay in Louisville

"The Highland Hideaway is a really nice property! My husband and I felt very comfortable at the house and it truly is within walking distance to quite a lot. We didn't use the kitchen much at all due to our short stay and close proximity to restaurants. If you love coffee, I highly recommend walking to Quill's on Baxter! You will not regret spending $5 on the Bourbon Vanilla Latte....promise! Cave Hill Cemetery is within walking distance as well, but if you really want to explore the entire cemetery (over 300 acres)....I would recommend driving. We were fortunate enough to get a personal tour from the cemetery manager on our last day in town. We took a short 5 minute drive across Payne Street to Frankfort Ave and rode the trolley for free (until 10pm) during FAT Friday (last Friday of each month). Lots to do and see in/near The Highlands... One caution: If you are 6' or taller, be careful of the low doorway going into the bathroom. My husband is 6' 4" and hit his head quite a few times on the door frame. It was comical for me since I'm 5' 6" and cleared it with no issues at all! Oh! Another caution.....once inside the house, do not walk out/shut the front door without the key. The door will lock once shut so you MUST have the key to regain entry. We didn't get locked out, but I can easily see someone shutting the door to unload their car, just to turn around and find yourself locked out of the house. Sarah was really easy to work with and very responsive/timely in her messages back about the house location and access code, etc. I did not need to contact her while at the house since everything was pretty self explanatory once we got there."

  • Absolutely Perfect

"My husband and our two kids and our friends and their two kids just returned from a wonderful mini vacation in Michigan City. This rental is absolutely perfect! We stayed on the main level and even with 4 adults and 4 kids there still seemed to be ample room to rest and relax. This place was nice, very clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen had every utensil imaginable, plenty of dishes and lots of pots and pans. There is a washer and dryer in the basement for which we were grateful to be able to wash our beach towels and swimsuits before making the drive home. If we weren't on the beach or eating, we could find our kiddos in the basement having a blast playing ping-pong. Don't worry about packing beach equipment because they have you covered... there are extra beach towels, life jackets, tons of beach toys and rafts and beach chairs, and even a couple of kayaks. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and we all feel it was definitely too short! My family and I don't vacation very often but we are hoping to make this trip again in the future. I communicated with the owner mostly by email and she was such a huge help, answering all my questions and even gave lots of suggestions. Jill, thank you so much for sharing your place with us! I think it's a gem and look forward to staying again sometime!"

  • Perfect for our girls weekend

"We've stayed here three times and each time, we are so sad to leave. This house is amazing and the continuing upgrades just make it better each time. The hot tub, fire pit and outside shower are such a treat! The landscaping is gorgeous! There were 12 of us that stayed and everyone had such a great time. Can't wait until next year! Thanks Rob!"

  • Great house and location on Lake Michigan

"We had a wonderful time at Mia's home. The setting overlooking the lake was great. She has a wonderful back yard that we used for family pictures. The house was spacious and easily accommodated six adults and three young children. The game room on the bottom floor was used extensively during our stay. The only concern we had was that getting to the beach from the house through her private access was difficult - potentially from the amount of sand erosion. But public access was less than a block away, an easy walk. Again, overall, we had a wonderful experience. I would recommend to family and friends."
