  • Wonderful Family Rental

"Our family of 10 (ages 10 months to 63) had a terrific time at this marvelous house in Grand Beach. The house was well appointed and kept up. Everything you would need to have a perfect vacation was there. The backyard is a play haven with a pool, jacuzzi, putting green and sand area for the little ones or adult bocce. The beach is a few blocks away and lovely. Grand Beach has a wonderful 9 hole golf course that you can just walk onto and play for a fraction of what you usually pay for golf. There is so much to do in the area - great restaurants, shopping, beaches, boating, kayaking, golf, biking etc. The house was very spacious with a huge deck with ample seating and lounging and nice grill and several living rooms. The kitchen is well equipped and they had lots of baby/child equipment which was great for us. The owner was very easy to work with and helpful with my questions. We would rent this property again in a heartbeat as it was wonderful and we still have more things we want to do in the area. The only thing I would say and it is not a criticism but a FYI. There are a lot of stairs to get to the first floor so if you have elderly people in your group you should keep this in mind. However, once they get to the first floor there is a huge master bedroom suite and everything else such as the deck, living areas and kitchen are on that floor. We would highly recommend this property."

  • Cute cottage with a great location

"We enjoyed our week in Cottage C. It's roomy and comfortable on the whole. The layout is a little odd--with two bedrooms and two bathrooms off the kitchen--but it worked surprisingly well to allow everyone privacy and quiet after the kids went to sleep. We loved the outdoor spaces--all the decks and the patio, and especially the little screened porch off the master bedroom. The community of cottages is adorable and quiet (despite one very sour neighbor who seemed offended by our very existence and lost her head when my husband mistakenly came into the parking lot through the exit--God forbid!). I do wish the kitchen were a little more accommodating: Even with all of our meals prepared or prepped in advance, I struggled a little. And I was disappointed by the cleanliness when we arrived: When I wiped off the kitchen table, the cloth came away brown (Yuck!), and the kitchen trash can lid looked like it had never been cleaned before. On the upside, though, it's less than 1/4 mile to the beach at McKinley Street (which is by far the better of the two nearby beaches--quiet and sandy), an easy and pleasant walk. You can literally come here, park your car, and never drive anywhere all week since little restaurants and shops are a half mile down Townline. It's a great spot, on the whole."

  • Cozy, clean and comfortable.

"We spent a very nice long weekend at Union Pier, with East of Eden as our home base. The cottage is just the right size for two adults. With a single bathroom I would not recommend it for more than a family with very small children if at all. We had our 55# Lab with us and he was quite comfortable, although the nearest dog friendly beach was some drive away. The cottage is very clean, nicely updated and thoughtfully equipped for an extended stay. You can get peace and quiet prior to the end of May but we suspect after that it's going to be a lively place. The owners were especially nice and we felt as if they are loaning us their cottage for the weekend."

  • Happy to be back

"My husband and I have stayed at this property in winter only, so it was a joy to return for a summer visit. The house is beautiful and immaculate, with all the amenities one could want. We love having such a beautiful and inviting kitchen while we are there, and being able to walk out the door and stroll the peaceful, quiet, wooded roads and open pasture areas of Tryon Farm. Lots of birds at this time of year really added to our pleasure. Laurel is a superb and responsive host."
