  • Great Cabin!

"The cabin was great, we loved everything about it! We planned a trip with our dog and had a great time, the yard at the cabin was great for playing ball. We were able to ride the train with him and take a canoe trip with him. Patoka Lake was a nice surprise we weren't expecting and enjoyed a whole afternoon sitting by the lake and letting our dog swim and play ball. We will definitely recommend this cabin and Southern Indiana to our family and friends!"

  • Rustic Meets Modern

"My mother and her 3 children, 3 in-laws, and 7 grandchildren stayed here from Wednesday to Sunday. What a great birthday present for my mom to have all of us together. The cabin had 4 bedrooms with a door (king, queen/single combo, queen, queen), 1 loft area with a queen bed, and in the basement there were 5 beds sort of in the middle of the basement out in the open. This setup worked great as my mom and all of her kids got a bedroom with a door and the grandkids got the remaining open beds. The cabin had a nice kitchen with dishes, silverware, and cooking utensils along with a dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, and a hibachi grill. The living room had a chess set which got a lot of use and it had a kitchen table with a leaf in it for eating and card playing. It also had a satellite TV (I think there were a total of 4 TVs in the house) and a wood burning fireplace which got lots of use. The cabin also had 4.5 baths. Outside the cabin had an outdoor fireplace, a gas grill, and a fire pit along with a deck around the entire house that was great for sitting on or playing cornhole or even laying in the hammock. About 50 yards from the front door of the cabin was another building that had a ping pong table, treadmills, and an open space for exercise. It was a great building to let the grandkids play. With 15 people in a cabin, the outdoor and other building amenities allowed the space to never feel crowded. We loved the experience of the cabin and will go back again. It was an awesome cabin loved by all generations. My only complaint was that the wifi put off a strong signal but the speed was not good. You could not stream music and it took it several minutes to download an app. The best part was that our kids were not constantly on their phones, but since there was really no wifi and no cell service that deep in the woods, we did feel disconnected from the world except for the TV which wasn't a bad thing. It made it had to communicate with ourselves if anyone headed into town for anything. Even texting proved to be difficult."

  • Our 3rd visit for a family reunion and the place gets better every time! Even had a wedding.

"We've stayed in several rental houses and cabins for our 25-30 person, week-long gathering. We love this place best so keep coming back. Why? For one, the FULLY equipped kitchen. It's huge (think restaurant kitchen) with giant pots, pans, bowls, etc to cook & clean up for a big group. Lots of large, open rooms and bedrooms so we never have to worry about our headcount, even when there were 38 of us. The grounds offer beautiful scenery with LOTS of space, all to our selves. Even a fish pond and golf holes. Upon every return, we find the owners Dave & Wendy (who are always very nice & helpful) have added even more amenities. We rent the main lodge and the smaller Blanche house on opposite sides of a large parking lot that can fit all our vehicles. When things get too chaotic and noisy at the main lodge, it's so nice to simply walk across the parking lot to my bedroom in the always-peaceful Blanche house. Since we had a wedding this year, with many extra overnight guests, we also rented the Grand Lodge with its very upscale "rustic" look. Had the wedding in the yard of the Grand Lodge with lovely woods for a backdrop. Had the reception in a building across the parking lot from the Grand Lodge. Wendy had staged it for a reception dinner to give those planning the reception some ideas. Then they transformed it. REALLY nice. A local restaurant supplied a buffet dinner. Elk Ridge Ranch is close to French Lick with lots of gambling & activities for those interested. Some tried mountain biking this year."
