  • Had A Great Time

"My Dad, brother, son and I just took a fishing trip to the Crooked Lake Cottage. We have been doing spring trips for about 10 years and this was our best trip yet. The cottage fit our needs perfectly and the Lake was beautiful. Evrything about the cottage was clean and well maintained with lots of the extras provided for our use. Our attractions were the lake and the fishing which was pretty good. We caught fish everytime we took out the boat, even while it was snowing out last day there. We liked so well we are going back again next year. Rick was great to work with on everything and checked with us several times to make sure evrything was OK and we weren't having any problems. The cottage was just as advertised."

  • Lots of potential

"Our outing was an adventure for three city families with eight birthdays in August. 24 of us arrived to a house that had been closed up for a while. The musty smell from the garage room initially was concerning, however it disappeared very quickly after we found and turned on the air. LOL. city folks... The uniqueness of the house made it cozy for a crowd and yet there was plenty of room for the 12 kids to explore. We had a small trailer outside to complete our group since we went over on people bed count. Ends up we didn't use the sofa beds. Thankfully the trailer was small enough to get in the tight drive. There was plenty of parking. Coming in from a day of playing at the lake, I was late to the shower and yet there was still hot water. 👍 The two refrigerators was also very nice to have. With plenty of pots and pans, I didn't need to bring anything. There were several missing light bulbs on the porch and dusty spider webs with mud dobber nests giving an isolated country feel as we sat listening to the insects. From that back porch, we could see only woods beyond the fire pit and play set. In short, I would describe it as a country lovers paradise."

  • Clean, quaint and perfect!

"For those looking for a small cottage within a short walking distance of the beach, this is great! The cottage itself is a bit dated, but it has been nicely kept and renovated with current technology and comforts. Yes, the houses in this area are close together, but I never felt as if my privacy was being invaded. This is a nice property, as it sits off the road (giving it more privacy and quiet ambiance) and has a small yard with a fire pit and plenty of space for a pet. It also includes off-street parking, which is a major plus! The listing says that it is "parking for two," although I would question that depending on what type of vehicle you drive. Two sedans could fit in this space, but I'm not so sure about two vans. Some things to consider when renting: 1. The cottage has a full kitchen with many tools, dishes and what-nots to help you prepare meals. 2. While there are plastic blinds on the bedroom windows, there are no curtains or shades. There are shades in the living and dining area, but they are shear. This is great for brightening up the room. However, for people like me who prefer a much darker room when sleeping, you may want to think about ways to help you avoid this problem. 3. Within walking distance of the property is a big park and the Michigan City Zoo. Also within the park is a nice splash water park for cooling off. (Please check operating times before going.) 4. The beach was wonderful. Our family visited in August and the water was cool and clean. Locals and vacationers in this area were very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this property to renters."
