  • Lots of potential

"Our outing was an adventure for three city families with eight birthdays in August. 24 of us arrived to a house that had been closed up for a while. The musty smell from the garage room initially was concerning, however it disappeared very quickly after we found and turned on the air. LOL. city folks... The uniqueness of the house made it cozy for a crowd and yet there was plenty of room for the 12 kids to explore. We had a small trailer outside to complete our group since we went over on people bed count. Ends up we didn't use the sofa beds. Thankfully the trailer was small enough to get in the tight drive. There was plenty of parking. Coming in from a day of playing at the lake, I was late to the shower and yet there was still hot water. 👍 The two refrigerators was also very nice to have. With plenty of pots and pans, I didn't need to bring anything. There were several missing light bulbs on the porch and dusty spider webs with mud dobber nests giving an isolated country feel as we sat listening to the insects. From that back porch, we could see only woods beyond the fire pit and play set. In short, I would describe it as a country lovers paradise."

  • Great large-group retreat

"This property is an ideal family reunion rental -- particularly for families (and compatible couples) who are comfortable staying on the property, rather than traveling around the area. Although Elk Ridge Ranch is quite removed from the surrounding communities, that is not particularly important, since upscale golf is about the only area attraction. French Lick does boast a very nice casino; and the French Lick and West Baden hotels are absolutely majestic; but that pretty much covers what the area has to offer. Elk Ridge Ranch, itself, offers privacy, a great deck with a clean grill, a super kitchen, and a large central gathering area. The bedroom and bathroom situation is quite accommodating (with the only exception being the the locked bedroom closets, which left us without anywhere to hang our clothes). And getting to the rental property, was also memorable -- given the gravel drive and steep hill that could easily challenge a mountain goat. But playing "bean bag horseshoes" on the wrap-around deck -- or sitting around the bonfire -- made up for that experience. All in all, Elk Ridge Ranch served are purposes quite well."

  • Great little spot in a great neighborhood.

"Small house but 5 adults and a 3 year old managed a 3 day weekend just fine. Kitchen is small so plan meals and do most of prep work ahead. There is Al's Supermarket, CVS, gas station, and hardware store 5 minutes away. The beach is a very easy 15 minute walk. Yard wagon to use for beach was nice. Also a small playground 10 minute walk away. No noise at night. House WiFi was good and great selection of DVD if it rains."

  • Absolutely Perfect

"My husband and our two kids and our friends and their two kids just returned from a wonderful mini vacation in Michigan City. This rental is absolutely perfect! We stayed on the main level and even with 4 adults and 4 kids there still seemed to be ample room to rest and relax. This place was nice, very clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen had every utensil imaginable, plenty of dishes and lots of pots and pans. There is a washer and dryer in the basement for which we were grateful to be able to wash our beach towels and swimsuits before making the drive home. If we weren't on the beach or eating, we could find our kiddos in the basement having a blast playing ping-pong. Don't worry about packing beach equipment because they have you covered... there are extra beach towels, life jackets, tons of beach toys and rafts and beach chairs, and even a couple of kayaks. We truly enjoyed every moment of our stay and we all feel it was definitely too short! My family and I don't vacation very often but we are hoping to make this trip again in the future. I communicated with the owner mostly by email and she was such a huge help, answering all my questions and even gave lots of suggestions. Jill, thank you so much for sharing your place with us! I think it's a gem and look forward to staying again sometime!"
