  • Cute, Comfortable, Clean and Relaxing!

"We had a very enjoyable stay at this property! It was perfectly situated for the activities we planned: visiting the adjacent wildlife refuge; Discovery Center in Union City; fishing; relaxing; and enjoying access to the water. We couldn't locate a canoe rental place (so plan ahead if you want to rent a canoe), but power boats are available for $50-$70 dollars for a half day. The property is situated on a quiet street of small homes in close proximity to each other on the creek side of the street (the other side of the street is mostly wooded). Although the homes are close together, the layout and landscaping of the home provide ample privacy both indoors and in outside seating areas. The neighbors were very friendly and welcoming. Loud/late night partiers would probably not be a good fit for this peaceful neighborhood. Property owners Bob and Carole live next door, but were not at all intrusive (I never even met them) and responded quickly to a few questions I texted. The home is quite comfortably furnished and very clean - you'd never know from the quality, condition, or smell that it is a dog-friendly property. Some (non-threatening) neighborhood dogs roam freely, and we enjoyed meeting them on our walks. The master bed has a comfortable mattress and high quality linens, providing a great night's sleep. The home has a large flat screen TV and wifi, but no cell reception. We drove 5 minutes to the wildlife refuge visitor's center when we needed a signal. We had all pots, pans and utensils needed to easily grill and cook. The kitchen is stocked well enough that no immediate trips to the grocery store were needed to get settled in. Dish soap, paper towels, coffee/tea/filters, salt, pepper, sugar and various spices were available. Backup garbage bags, foil/saran wrap, and laundry soap were not provided, so be prepared to provide those if you need them, and you may want to bring your own food storage containers if you use them for leftovers. The ice machine is very convenient and there is also a reach-in chest freezer. There were good restaurants within 15 minutes drive (homemade onion rings at Boyette's definitely worth a return trip). All the locals we met were super friendly. We were very happy with our stay, highly recommend the property, and would definitely return to this home on future visits. Thank you Carole and Bob for a wonderful family getaway!"

  • Great house in a country setting

"We (3-senior couples) stayed in this great country home for 5-nights (Sept. 23-28, 2016) and just loved it. We flew into Nashville and stayed there for 5-nights before coming up to Frankfort to the Crockett House and then we traveled to Pigeon Forge,TN for a week. This was our first visit to the Tenn. & Kentucky area, so we wanted to see it all. We found the Crockett House to be the perfect central location for seeing the Kentucky area. We visited Churchill Downs in Louisville, The Ark Encounter in Williamstown, The Horse Farm in Lexington, Shaker town in Lexington, and the Mammoth Caves, Corvette Museum and assembly plant in Bowling Green.(+ the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort with free samples) Home base at the Crockett House was perfect. We are from the Seattle,WA area, and If we ever get back to Kentucky, we will definitely try to stay here again. The house was very well furnished and "super" clean. We had our breakfast every morning out on the screened in porch, so we could watch the 5-7 deer graze in the back yard. After a busy day site seeing, coming home to this quiet setting was very relaxing. Lots of restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. only about 3-4-miles down the road. Overall, If your looking for a great house in a great location, you can't beat the Crockett House. The pictures of the home and the property descriptions were right on. Jim and Sara were quick to answer any questions we had and the damage deposit was returned in less than 1-week. Crockett House = 5-star rating. Jim & Sharon Lynden, Washington"

  • Gilley Family

"We stayed a week at this resident. It was excellent. Very clean, has everything you need. We parked our boat at the dock and stayed on the lake most days. My husband, two grandsons, daughter, and her friend stayed and had so much fun. Catching frogs each night at dusk. Watching the sunset each evening. I cooked some dinners at the house and had everything you needed. Really enjoyed our week. Didn't want to leave."

  • Great vacation.

"This was a great place for a relaxing vacation. The owner is great to work with and provided information and made sure we had a very nice time. The lake is a short walk and so was the ice cream shop, nice combination for a great vacation. Everything we needed was there and we would defiantly return to this slice of paradise."
