  • Nice place!

"We had a nice, relaxing weekend at Apple Valley Resort, Condo P3. The condo is very clean, with has all the items needed to enjoy a comfortable vacation at Lake Cumberland. The other resort owners and guests are very friendly and invited us to the annual cook-out, which was fun! The only advice I have for renters is to be sure to read the instructions on "how to get there"! There isn't a visible sign to Apple Valley Resort out on the road. However, the owner's instructions are very clear...so just be sure to read them! If you get all the way to the Lake, you've gone too far! :) And this is not a handicapped accessible Condo, so be prepared to haul your things around to the back entrance from the parking lot and up and down stairs. However, that wasn't a problem for us. All in all, I would highly recommend Condo P3 at Apple Valley Resort."

  • Scottish Festival and Games rental

"My husband, daughter and son in law wanted to go to the Scottish Festival but all the lodge rooms at the state park plus the cabins and villas were already reserved well in advance, we only started looking for a place in April. The chain hotels were also booked so I was ready to give up, then my daughter remembered and tried VRBO! Luckily enough this cabin popped up on her search parameters. We were very well pleased with the cabin, it was in a very quiet and peaceful setting overlooking the lake. The screened room was so wonderful, when we weren't cooking or sleeping we were on this porch. It has a fan to move the air around and was mostly quite comfortable, but it seems to be on one speed only, that being high. I would have preferred an adjustment as early morning and late night it made it too cool to run the fan. We made use of the grill one night having chicken and pork chops, don't forget to bring charcoal and starter! We would have preferred having 2 bathrooms but made do with the one, a bathroom fan would be nice to keep the steamy air in check but I opened the window and told everyone to not go out back while I was in the shower! We did not get around to sitting in the large living room, the weather was too nice to be indoors. It would be very nice in the fall and winter when the weather is cold. I suspect it is gorgeous there when the leaves turn color so that is something to think about when planning a fall getaway. The price for the cabin was reasonable and we hope to rent again next year when the Scottish Festival is held."

  • Family Lake Fun

"We have lost two very dear Family members in the last year. Our family had always made many memories at Kentucky Lake since back in the Fifties and continuing with both Kentucky and Barclay Lakes through recent years. We decided to have another family reunion at Lake Barclay and Phyllis made it happen. What a wonderful time sharing all the fun memories from the past. The house had a magnificent view and was fully equipped to meet all of our needs. Who needs WiFi when you can set on a screened in porch and watch the all the boats and jet skis fly by! It was AWESOME! Yes there are steps down to the dock, but we all went down and back up. That included our 88 year old Dad! He was a trooper! Thanks again to Phyllis for making sure everything was perfect and following up on any needs! We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to spend time on Lake Barclay!!!!"

  • Wonderful place for groups to stay

"During the winter, our Middle School and High School horse show teams were competing regionally for a spot at the National Final Horse show being held at KY Horse Park in Lexington in April. Not knowing how many people we would ultimately be bringing, we were looking for a place that could accommodate a large group of people. We found Stone Cottage! Mark was fantastic about working with us given that we were not certain until a month before the national show how many people we would ultimately be bringing. He helped us out with every question and made this whole process so easy. Ultimately the kids had a great time playing in the backyard during down time and enjoyed sleeping upstairs in the finished attic (a novelty to Arizona kids). The parents relished the quiet neighborhood and charm oozing from every corner of the Stone Cottage. I don't think the location could have been more perfect for getting to KY Horse Park. The drive was easy and picturesque. We drove around the country-side looking at the area horse farms, ate some delicious regional fare and overall had a wonderful time. Only problem was we could not stay longer. I would and do recommend the Stone Cottage to any who come to Lexington!"
