  • Girls Getaway

"We had a large group of ladies come into Chicago for an engagement party - 8 ladies spent the night here, but we hosted a gift exchange with 16 total people and everyone fit comfortably. This was perfect for us and our needs! The house was great and the bedrooms were comfortable. There is grocery store not too far away which was especially convenient when we discovered that there was no coffee provided! (Tho there was a coffee pot which was helpful.) There are some dishes/utensils, but I would recommend bringing your own as there is a random assortment and I wouldn't depend on something being there. Same goes for any cooking utensils/pots/pans/etc. The location was fine - we were unsure about the area but we never felt unsafe. We stayed in January so were unable to use the outdoor space and spent most of the time inside anyways. We had zero problems using Uber to and from the house."

  • GREAT EXPERIENCE!!

"This is our 1st VRBO, it went SO well. The cabin was very comfortable for our 4 generation group age 13-89, and very clean :) Is there anything worse than walking in and not feeling comfortable because it is gross? We didn't get that feeling at all! The owners were very responsive from booking (thanks for helping us get started w/VRBO) to while on vaca. We cooked most our meals at the cabin for 1 week and the kitchen was well stocked! Our family brought along own crock pot and rolling pin and a picture for water/tea, but all other items we needed were on site. (Note: Douglas' grocery store was very close-we got majority in Holland which was closer to prices we are used to, but Holland road construction was crazy so we picked up as needed items in Douglas.) Our favorite activity was kayaking just down the pier! We have inflatable kayaks we brought along and we LOVED IT! If we ever go back to MI, this is where we will look 1st! This was our 1st non-planned vaca (we didn't have an itinerary) & we found lots to do. We loved Cranes (u-pick [our blueberries made it home great, bring a cooler] & restaurant [Brix cherry cream soda-you can call Brix & pick up cases at their warehouse in Grand Rapids], wine, pie [we had no sugar added-yummy]), Saugatuck Dunes State Park-short hike to a much less crowded beach, Oval Beach, Dunes ride. It was an easy to explore area. We brought along a 2nd TV & prime stick for downstairs (stairs a bit too much for our 4th generation; all necessities on main floor with only a couple stairs into the cabin) & our Wii for upstairs. I even got time for a soak in their amazing tub before coming home. I appreciated the onsite laundry!! We had most of our laundry done going home :) That was a treat! Just a little during our down time. The dryer was squeaky but there is a pocket door. The shopping in Saugatuck was ok... This family vaca was selected for a midwest beach, and we built our vaca around a great cabin to stay in. I am VERY pleased! READ THE FULL INSTRUCTIONS on the fridge upon arrival. They lay things out well. We arrived (road construction) later than we expected & had a difficult time finding the cabin in the dark. Bring a flashlight or something if arriving after dark. Owners, responsiveness, location, things to do, cleanliness, all were a great experience!!!! I can't imagine a group or season that this cabin would not have worked for. We had a response on our deposit within a couple days of returning home! ALL GREAT!"

  • Fantastic Week!

"Glen Lodge worked out perfectly for our family get-together. It has been over 20 years since we stayed at the lodge and it is better than ever. The three suites made for great fun for the grand children, children and grand parents. The spacious lake front property, the dock and the swimming raft all got plenty of use during our stay. I can't say enough about the hospitality the Ricker family showed us. We will be going back for many years to come."

  • Perfect!

"My husband and I rented the Yellow Cottage for six weeks to be near our youngest granddaughter and of course, her parents! It was cozy, quiet and worked well for us. It ended up we had friends come for a short stay and another granddaughter used the guest room as well. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is bright and functional although instructions for the dish washer would have been helpful. We rented bikes for getting around the village and we enjoyed riding on the flat terrain. The house is close to public transportation, within walking distance of cafes' and a grocery store and even downtown Oak Park! Hope to be back again!"
