"Wonderful home. Beautiful kitchen, room for all the cooks. Fire pit was well used. Great time had by all. We'll be back next year. Thanks Scott"

  • Absolutely everything we wanted - plus pelicans!

"Six of us - two grandparents, two parents, and two primary-age children - spent a happy week here at the end of June. The privacy of the place, the beauty of the lake, and the comfort of the cabin were all much treasured. We saw deer, foxes, pelicans, terns, wild turkey, pheasant, raccoons, and seagulls. What a delight to be in an environment that hasn’t been poisoned by toxic chemicals. Yes, there are a few spiders on the deck - as another guest has noted. One goes out in the morning and sweeps down the webs. No big deal. The cabin smelled fresh - no musty odors. We found generous supplies of toilet paper and paper towels in the kitchen closet, as well as clean towels and extra blankets in the two linen closets. Cooking gear and dishes were also generously supplied. A couple of fix-it problems came up and the housekeeper worked with us to resolve them. As I am disabled, I was happy to have a main-floor bedroom and bathroom with a walk-in shower. I was also delighted to have an Ekornes Stressless chair on hand - that’s where I spent most of the week. The beach at the cabin is rocky and the charming Liberty Grove Town Park - maybe a 10-minute walk - has a sandy beach. We found a trail from the south end of Nor-Dor Road that led down into Newport State Park, with more wonderful rocky beaches. Additional local attractions: the Shoreline Restaurant, Charlie’s Smokehouse, and the coffee shop, all in in Gills Rock; the Pioneer Store in Ellison Bay; Seaquist Orchards and the Door County Creamery in Sister Bay; the Ridges Nature Sanctuary in Bailey’s Harbor. This cabin has a unique history. We enjoyed reading stories in the guest book about its past years. It’s not perfect - no summer rental is perfect - but we found much to love and we’d go back in a minute."

  • We Love South Haven!

"We so enjoy staying at the Michiana! This is our second time and we hated to leave.... I wouldn't stay any where else. Michael is always so wonderful and loves to please those who stay in his homes! You will not be let down.... The accommodations are perfect and you want for nothing.... the walk to the beach and downtown took minutes and our girls loved it so much! South Haven is perfect for a couple or for a family... We look forward to our next visit! The Fialkowski Family"

  • Great place for families

"Very clean and spacious. We have a family of 4 and stayed here with another family of 4. There was plenty of room for everyone. The rental had everything we needed. The owners were extremely helpful and pleasant. It's a little bit of a walk to downtown but it is doable. Would definitely recommend this place."
