  • Beautiful and quiet

"The house is beautiful and clean! The street is quiet, and we felt safe as a family. Just a short drive from all our favs. We will book again! Thank you for everything!"

  • Accommodating Host, Safe Home, Wonderful Community

"First and foremost DeCarlas was extremely accommodating to my group. I was traveling along with a group of my college friends for spring break in New Orleans and we had lots of questions and a few mistakes on my end that required both myself and DeCarlas to call to HomeAway headquarters - DeCarlas was patient and helpful through it all. The home itself is in a safe neighborhood that I felt comfortable walking around at night as a group of all females. Close to Magazine Street, everything was a walk or quick Uber away including some really awesome restaurants (I recommend Superior Seafood). One bonus feature I appreciated about the house was the keypad instead of a physical key - we never had to worry about losing a key after a long night out, just simply remember the passcode provided. All in all, I'd certainly stay here again if traveling back to New Orleans."

  • Great rental NEAR the Quarter but a world apart

"If you are visiting New Orleans to hit the Vieux Carre' and party like it's 1999, you can certainly do so from this large and private, comfortable ground floor apartment. It's minutes away by streetcar and there for the taking. But there is so much about NoLa that's outside the Quarter and this Mid-City neighborhood is a great example. Creole cottages, shotgun doubles, super nice neighbors and a genuine hospitality set this rental as a cut above. Don't let the one way streets surrounding confuse you, you'll get the hang of it--eventually! One of the cities historic above ground cemeteries is literally out the back gate and on a warm night with a moon, it was a cool place to enjoy a cigar and a glass of wine and contemplate whatever needed contemplating. Kathy, her husband and her neighbors are all superfans of the New Orleans Saints and the mini "dome" celebrating the team in the huge backyard was awesome to see, along with separate tables and chair perfect for a morning cuppa. They even made this Seahawks fan feel welcome! Her coffee closet was well stocked but nearby in City Park, a walk or bike ride away is Morning Call, for those wanting a healthy or unhealthy but delicious dose of Chicory java to wash down their beignets. My daughter and I did everything OFF the beaten path this time (even coming down by train from Chicago) and Kathy tipped us off to a couple of great nearby events where we literally felt like locals enjoying the vibrant scene, no other tourists noted! Mid-City has some tremendous food options, post-Katrina store boom and tremendous variety of architecture for both the living and the dead--literally. Highly recommended place to call home for a few days--or more."

  • An absolute dream house

"I've stayed many places in New Orleans, from the finest hotels to some exceptionally charming historic homes, but nothing compares to Alison's property. It is an absolute dream house which perfectly blends the amenities and privacy of a 5 star hotel with the relaxed comfort and originality of being in your own private dream home. Her eye for style and decor is unmatched and she could not have made our stay more welcoming or comfortable. She even left a giant bushel of fresh picked bananas from the backyard for our enjoyment. The master bathroom and steam room is the finest I have ever been in and the master bed is so comfortable that we are replacing our own bed at home with the exact model from her house. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more here and can't wait to return to Alison's historic paradise. If you are a lunatic for history like me make sure you check out and appreciate the original 1870's mantel and mirror in the parlor that dates all the way back to the origin of the house."
