  • A true get-away!

"My wife and I spent the long holiday weekend and loved every minute. The cabin is charming; all the amenities you would need. View of the pond from the bedroom window was a "good morning" bonus. Close to hiking and bike trails. Did some fishing and visited Acadia. Nick and Cathy are such warm hosts. I can't wait to go back again next year."

  • So peaceful and relaxing!

"If you're looking for quiet seclusion you can't do much better than this log cabin tucked away down a long driveway and right on Molasses Pond. It was a real pleasure hearing the water lapping at the shore right outside the door, and the dock was a great place to enjoy my morning coffee. The cabin is rustic and had everything we needed in case we wanted to cook, and the linens and towels were clean. You won't receive many channels with the antenna, and there is no wifi, but there are movies and games available. Our cell phone service (AT&T) was spotty at best, to completely unavailable many times, which adds to the sense of isolation. The cabin is about 30-35 minutes from the nearest town of any size (Ellsworth) depending on traffic, and about an hour from Bar Harbor. Something to be aware of: if you use a GPS to take you to points North (Lubec, for example) you may find yourself going left out of the driveway and over about 3 miles of dirt roads before hooking up with the paved George's Pond Road. Some sections of the dirt roads are more like Jeep roads, and might give some low clearance cars some trouble. To avoid this, make sure you turn on your Off Road avoidance feature on your GPS. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return if we wanted the solitude again. Oh, and we stayed in Cabin 1, which sits a little farther back then Cabin 2. The driveway is shared so you actually drive through Cabin 2's front yard to get to Cabin 1, so I think Cabin 1 is a better choice of the two. If you need wifi, cell phone service (which is actually spotty through much of Maine anyway), or to be closer to the Down East attractions you may want to stay closer to Ellsworth. Otherwise, Cry of the Loon is about as peaceful as you can get. Thank you!"

  • Very Comfortable Home - LOVE Green Lake

"The 4 ladies in my group were looking for some adventure and relaxation and this beautiful home on Green Lake was the perfect place. It has all the comforts of home and most of the toys you would want/need for the beach and lake (we missed the aluminum boat for fishing but the 2 who wanted to fish made it work with the paddle boat). The kitchen was stocked for what you would need to make meals at "home" and the grocery store was only a few miles up the road. We made meals both inside and grilled outside on the GORGEOUS patio a few times where we also enjoyed a few "cocktails!" The beds were very comfortable and two bathrooms were nice to share between 4 women! We didn't miss the internet. There were enough channels on the television for what little we were inside watching and we were all able to get a strong enough cell signal (Verizon) when needing to text or make a call. We were only able to spend 5 days here so being semi-Unplugged was a pleasure. We ventured out to Bar Harbor and to Bangor and each were less than an hour away. Kathleen was VERY helpful AND prompt with any of our needs, inquiries or recommendations on what to do, see or where to eat. Fishing and relaxing were what we enjoyed most. I would love to stay here again sometime but would definitely plan for more than just 5 days - Seemed like just as we were settling in, it was time to pack up for home! Thanks again to Kathleen who was an awesome hostess! Tracy, Linda, Theresa and Donna Michigan"
