  • Awesome spot

"The house is nicer than in the pictures, for sure. It's very spacious and comfortable, and has most everything you need. We were a group of five adults, and never felt crowded. I agree with the other reviewer, it's a good balance of rustic character and modern conveniences. The screened in porch is an excellent place to read a book or do a jigsaw puzzle. The lake is beautiful and extremely quiet (it seemed like the other sections of the lake were more populated). We loved hanging out on the dock and swimming out to the swim float. There are a few things that would make it more perfect - a new set of knives and silverware, and a ladder at the end of the dock (there are a lot of rocks, so a bit tricky to get in the water). Yes, it's a bit of a drive down the road to the house, but it's not at all bumpy, so they have done a good job at grading it – no problem at all. It's quite convenient to Blue Hill and other locations - we zipped to the Blue Hill food coop a few times, had lobster rolls at Bagaduce Lunch, and went to the amazing pizza night at Tinder Hearth Bakery. We have rented many lake houses in the area, and this ranks among the best."

  • Scenic wonderland

"We have visited, Maine for the past five years during the holidays to see our grand kids and this I by far the best place we have stayed at. Extremely close to downtown Bangor, Mall, Theater and restaurants. Although winter time is not for everybody, we thoroughly enjoy it. There are plenty of activities for all ages."

  • True Taste of Country

"This was our first visit to this part of Maine, and we fell in love with the whole Mount Desert Island area but especially with Acadia. We enjoyed the view from Cadillac Mountain, but especially loved getting up close and personal with the ocean, at Thunder Hole and at the tide pools at Wonderland. We went on an awesome whale-watching tour out of Bar Harbor and enjoyed walking around, soaking up the touristy atmosphere of the town. We also made a trip to Fort Knox and the Penobscot Observatory, both of which were impressive. Since we were only in the area for 3 days, we spent most of our time out and about, but what time we did have at the house was great - it had everything we needed except drinking water, which was easily remedied. The property is beautiful and there isn't a neighbor in sight, which was nice. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any wildlife around the house, just a woodpecker and other birds. There's an extensive collection of books of all sorts in the front hall for your reading pleasure, along with games and a few toys. The house was a comfortable temperature for the most part; the fans came in handy for making the bedrooms comfortable for sleeping. The new refrigerator is freaking awesome, and it was so handy to have a washer and dryer on site. We also really appreciated having a cooler and some already frozen "blue ice" we could borrow. On the downside, the downstairs shower didn't have much water pressure (I didn't try the upstairs one), and the water tends to smell a bit . . . cottage-y . . . but no big deal. It was a bit inconvenient not to have cell phone service, but the homeowners have made sure there is a landline available. Wi-fi wassn't working great for us - sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and sometimes not at all. Same with Netflix. Nothing that was a deal breaker, and we'd come back in a heartbeat to enjoy this taste of Maine country living and to be so conveniently located by Bar Harbor and Acadia."

  • A Hidden Treasure!

"What a wonderful stay on this little bay! This cottage was immaculate, yet warm and homey. Not a detail left undone....from the canoe/kayaks on the property to the umbrella at the front door. Even homemade blueberry muffins and smores fixins left in the fridge! Secluded, with easy access to the bay. We enjoyed canoeing out to visit the seals and building fires in the fire pit built from granite on the property. Great history on this home....just ask Tina! Acadia National Park was close enough but far enough to avoid the heavy tourist presence. Schoodic Mountain is closeby for a hike and vista view. We also loved Tidal Falls which was just around the corner."
