  • Nice Maine vacation rental

"The owners provided great service. The home was supplied with coffee, soaps and paper products. Very nice convenience. We stayed with our children and grandchildren and the home was a great layout."

  • So welcoming in every way

"We spent a week at NortherNest; my husband, our portuguese water dog and our two beagles! I'm not sure who enjoyed the 'nest' more; my husband and I, or the dogs! The moment we entered the 'nest', there were welcoming touches everywhere; from the water bowl adorned with dog biscuits, to the crisply made beds with lovely linens and bedcovers, to the freshly cut and arranged garden flowers throughout the house. Our stay was relaxing and peaceful beyond words. As some have already said, the pictures just don't fully account for the beautiful setting, the amazing beach, enclosed deck with access to the pup area, and proximity to Mt Desert Island and Acadia Nat'l Park. We explored all of the island and the park everyday. What a pleasure to have our beagles off leash enjoying time on the deck with us! We will definitely return!"

  • Charming farmhouse, isolated location, striking distance to everything

"My wife, our ten and seven year old children, our dog, and I spent a wonderful and relaxing week in Lamoine. The farmhouse is rustic and charming. The property offers children lots of opportunities to play and explore. The stars are amazing. While rustic, modern amenities are also available: WIFI, satellite TV, and a bluetooth stereo receiver. There are a number of things to do that are minutes away. Lamoine Beach and Raccoon Cove are spots for foraging clams and mussels, kayaking, or watching the sunrise. While my daughter painted the sunrise at Lamoine Beach, I foraged some rose hips and we made rose hip jam, adding some of the crab apples that grow behind the farmhouse for pectin. There's al fresco pizza available at the nearby goat farm, Seal Cove Farm. There are fresh egg sellers and lobster boils along the road on the way into Elseworth. Elseworth has super markets for stocking up and Roster Brother's for gourmet cheese, cold cuts and dry goods. They have excellent coffee. We had lunch at Serendib, a Sri Lankan restaurant, in Elseworth, which was very, very good. We visited Acadia three times and it's about a 30 minute drive to the Mt. Desert Island part of the park. We also visited Scoodic Point which is a longer drive, but well worth a visit. The Down East Maine Coast is a beautiful place, affording many opportunities for good times and good food. We'll definitely be back and would stay at Fox Hollow again. Other things worth checking out: - Acadia Deep Sea Fishing, they send you home with lobster from their traps. It's a rather long trip and not the best if you're prone to sea sickness - J & P's Farm Market in Trenton, good local produce, frozen Herring Brothers steaks. - Morning Glory Bakery in Bar Harbor"

  • Lovely home in cental NorthEast Harbor

"This was my first time ever renting a home instead of staying in hotels while we traveled. To say I was nervous is an understatement. I was looking for a true relaxing experience while we visited Acadia, and I this house provided us that. First and foremost, Tim was very accommodating and understanding of the many questions I had regarding the rental process. In my first email to Tim, I told him that I had never rented a home before and within five minutes I got a phone call. He did everything he could to calm my nervousness, which I appreciated tremendously. I knew from that point I was dealing with a legit homeowner. Even at the last moment, he allowed me to add my small dog to our trip when I initially thought I would be leaving him with family. The property was a perfect size for our party. We traveled with four adults, three teenagers, a three-year-old, and my dog. The two couples each had the same size master bedrooms, so no flipping of a coin was needed, and the teenagers shared a room with ample space and their own beds. We really appreciated the multiple bathrooms when it came time to get ready. The house itself was stocked with more than what we needed to get by. It had everything! I kept saying to myself how much money I saved by not having to buy all those items that made our stay so comfortable. I have officially been converted to a home renter in my travels! The area of the rental was central to all the great things the island had to offer. In my initial search, I thought we had to stay in Bar Harbor to be around all the action. I am SO GLAD we did not! We visited Bar Harbor for one day but it was such a busy place that we never went back. It was just full of shops. Besides, all the fun stuff was around us. We visited all the great spots: Jordans Pond, Cadillac Mountain, The Carriage Trail, etc, but also got to go on a deep sea fishing adventure where the captain pulled up lobster pots and gave everyone on board a lobster. We did our fair share of relaxing too. It was very convenient that just a short walk from the house was a quaint little Main Street with stores full of everything we could need. Also, there was a Walmart and a Shaws a short drive away. We ate out sometimes but also made good use of the BBQ grill on the property. Our last day we decided to explore the SouthWest Harbor. I am so glad we did because we got a chance to take a kayaking trip on Long Pond at sunset. I told Tim we will DEF be back again! THANKS TIM AND FAMILY!"
