  • Well-appointed getaway on the quiet side.

"We had a lovely stay at Seamist. Robin is an amazing host, and she patiently answered many questions, always very quickly. The home is very comfortable, and we enjoyed evenings on the couch with the fireplace going. There were just two of us, plus our little Italian greyhound. We rented the home because we needed a well appointed kitchen, and we got that in spades. Robin has thought of everything. It is also very nice that the home is stocked with basic supplies such as foil, plastic wrap, detergent, and tissues. The house was spotless, and it also had a good supply of books and other information about the area. We were very fortunate with the weather, arriving at peak color season. Acadia National Park was just spectacular! After leaving I realized that I had left three scarves in the closet, and Robin shipped them back to me the next day. I can't recommend Seamist and its extremely accommodating owners highly enough. We would definitely recommend this home to friends and family, and we hope to have a chance to return in the future."

  • FABULOUS!!!

"After staying many times in the crazy busy Bar Harbor area we decided to stay on the "quiet" side of the island. This house and the location were absolutely the right choice. Easy to find, right on the harbor, the house was immaculate and perfect for two couples. I was afraid it was going to be on the small side but the layout of the house made it perfect. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need to cook and eat in. (Even a fully stocked Keurig coffee machine). If cooking in is not your style there are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area. We also REALLY enjoyed exploring Southwest Harbor (ten minutes away). To sum it up when we go back to Mt Desert Island this will be the place we stay! PS Ken, the owner is amazing to work with!!!"

  • Beautiful views especially at sunset and moon rise

"After we oohed and ahhed about the views upon arrival my mom mentioned this was the cleanest house she ever stayed in (she had not seen previous reviews). Everything was great. Very quiet location. While at very low tide it may not be sandy like Frenchman Bay, it has far more gorgeous views especially in the mornings and evenings. Being right on the water was great. Sited of ospreys catching fish and herons from the deck and eagle and dolphin from the kayak near Bass Harbor Head lighthouse. Took photos repeatedly off the deck because each day offered such great dramatic shots. Southwest Harbor also has some artist co-op type shops - far less commercial than Bar Harbor. Thurston's Lobster Pound down the road was great! Mary Grace was easy to work with and very responsive to questions."
