  • Tops in Convenience

"I enjoyed my stay. The home was fairly close to downtown Bar Harbor (close enough where I always walked) and within a 1/2 mile or so of a full service supermarket. The rooms were roomy and the unit was clean and well equipped. They had guidebooks, some of which they wrote that were especially handy and useful. They even had a full two car garage with a washing machine that my miniature car fit comfortably into (the garage, not the washing machine). A few things to keep in mind. They warn you there are stairs. One enters through the garage and in the daytime and when only carrying a camera and the spooky house key, it isn't any big deal. However, they were a little steeper and the steps smaller than what I was used to. Also a bit tricky in the dark, although I eventually found the light switches behind the shelves in the living room by the door. Truly it wasn't a big deal, but hauling up a suitcase one needs to be careful. There is only one bathroom which was very handy when in the kitchen or downstairs, but it isn't on the same floor as the bedrooms. Bathroom was fine, clean, sized fine etc., but not close to the bed. There are two bedrooms, both upstairs, and their layout could be really ideal, or not so much, depending on your circumstances. They look like they were at one time one room where a wall was added (and a door). So for a couple with small children would probably find it ideal. However, for two couples it might lack enough privacy. One couple is going to have to walk through the bedroom of the other couple to use the "facilities" downstairs. I was by myself, so I found it to be fine. I only used the main bedroom and it was quite roomy and the bed was very comfortable. My comments are mostly quibbles. I enjoyed my stay and would certainly not hesitate to stay there again."

  • Great Home, Great View, Great Vacation at Twin Gables!

"Our favorite vacation destination is Bar Harbor, Maine, without exception. This year we rented The Twin Gables House at Hull's Cove so that we could enjoy our 3 grown sons, daughter-in-laws and 8 grandchildren all under one roof. Twin Gables was a perfect fit. Room for everyone and everything for a memorable week near our favorite sights and scenery in Acadia and on Mt Desert Island. The back porch was our favorite place to eat and rest after a day in the park. The family is already talking about our return trip. Thanks for sharing your Twin Gables Home with our family."

  • Women celebrating 60 years!

"As a group of women all turning 60 this year we wanted a memorable vacation; we started in Boston and finished the last few days at the Orchard House. We loved the home's layout, the large, bright bedrooms and amenities included. The kitchen was great as a few in the group love to cook-the large dining room table worked well for dinner and card games. The mix of art and pictures in the home are interesting and fun. The home is secluded yet accessible to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Trish was an attentive host throughout the booking process and on our arrival. If you have a large group/family and want to be near the attractions on Mt. Desert Island, stay here!"

  • A Great Vacation Home

"Our group of four empty-nester couples had a wonderful time at this property. The home is beautifully appointed. The backyard patios, including the one at the ocean's edge, are spectacular. Wildlife was in plain view, including several deer, a porcupine and several types of birds. There was plenty of room to spread out, relax and enjoy life. The property is on a secluded, treed, private road with easy, quick access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The property owner was great to work with, very gracious and ready to assist with anything to make our stay even more enjoyable. This is great living!"
